This man is a true legend of bass fishing. I had the honor of interviewing him over the phone a couple years before he passed away. A real gentleman. Back in the 1990s he fished an entire tournament with cracked ribs after slipping on an icy launch ramp and falling against his boat trailer. That's dedication.

Danny, Larry, Jay & Joe Thomas had a bass seminar in Houston in 1990, each pro talked about their preferred style of bass fishing! All were great but the pitching & flipping technics of Danny's was the most informative because its a technic I didn't use much! Him dropping a jig into a tea cup from over 20 feet away was impressive! But the biggest tip is when he showed how to trim the whiskers on the hook brush guard is what improved my hook ups and allowed me to use the jig & pig fishing technique more and i believe allows me to catch bigger fish in just about any body of water I fish. But especially in the Texas Bayous I prefer to fish using ultralight casting & spinning rods & reels! And most people won't even know to even fish these small bodies of Texas waters! Using 1/16 to 1/2 oz jigs and small craws it a blast! Trimming the weed guard even parallel to the flat part of the hook!

Bought a bunch of antique fishing lures and one was a Al Foss No. 3 spinning bait? Made in 1920's. Martin Roland is kicking it on KZbin!

Back when bass fishing was pure and simple. Amazing Larry can catch fish without $50k worth of electronics on the boat.

I remember watching all the greats in the 80s as a teenager. My 11 year old watches them with me now. Tells me we dressed funny, but every time he sees a lunker, he's determined to catch one. Thanks for the great channel.

Mr Bill Dance thank you so much you've really been a big help to me. Back in the in the 60s. My mother and dad had a cabin at eastport I can remember my dad and I fishing with a long purple worm 🪱 as a matter of fact when my mother and dad would buy me a rod and reel. I would put a purple worm on the end of it and that's all I ever fish with. And I would catch as many fish as anybody things sure have changed but thank you so much

I sat next to Doug at a bass fishing symposium put on years ago at SeaWorld. He was incredibly nice. I remember seeing this video years ago and people were complaining he was using electronics to catch these lunker bass. This is like the naysayers today complain about FFS. Anglers need to learn the technology or get out of the way. Rick Clunn says FFS is " beautiful" and he is actively learning it.
