Drove an oddball Western Star with a 410HP C12 in the Army. A lot of them were essentially straight piped. It had an automatic Allison, unfortunately, but it was still a really fun truck to drive. When loaded and going down a grade those jakes really screamed. Occasionally we'd pour a bottle of engine oil into the fuel tanks for a little extra haze out of the pipe - the Army diesel we used was mostly that high test stuff for tanks and when you poured some oil into it, it really chooched. Lol!

I was searching for T800 real trucks so I can’t find a dope looking example to build on ATS. I clicked on your video because it says T800 C12 but little did I know I was going to see you make a right turn and get onto i64. That was a treat I wasn’t expecting. I drove for WM in Hampton Roads before transferring to Texas. It was nice to see the area through your lens.

I just got my cdl and bought a dump truck with a C12 and a 10 speed Eaton fuller, I’m trying to find the sweet spot for upshifting and downshifting and what to rev up to, what rpms feels smoothest on your truck?

How many horsepower? And weight oh and 0-60 time

I believe it was 425 horse. I'm not sure of the weight that day but I was super light. Definitely under 80,000. & I have no idea on the 0-60 lol I wasn't racing for that to be something I would want to know.

Good Shifting... Learned a lot. In CDL school now Although they want us stopping in a controlled gear. I keep letting coast.... Had to learn and remind myself to at least get to 5th at red light... Thanks for explaining it so normal. CDL test is Wednesday...

Yes sir, I preciate it dude! Good thing about coming to a stop in a gear is that the truck will let you know when it needs to be down shifted, listen to the truck, if you think you're going to fast for the downshift just give it more throttle and send her home. Coasting is uncontrolled, don't be afraid to skip a gear, if you have to coast take a quick second to look and your speed and find a gear, doesn't matter if you're in 6th(high side) and have to get to fourth (low side). Also remember DONT ROLL BACKWARD. If you're not good with balancing the clutch yet keep your foot on the brake until you feel the truck tugging. Some people ik my class failed just for rolling backward. You got it man, best of luck to you. Check my other videos if you want to see more downshifting ( although I'm not using the clutch still may help with being able to listening to the truck.)

Absolutely no idea. I have heard that the 60 series is a true workhorse though. Great for people starting out because you can throw a lot at it and it will handle it well.

Happy New Years man. Nice job on this video very well explained. Sounds like your tractor needs a new steering box- some of them have an adjustment screw on the side where you just loosen up a nut and turn the screw in a half a turn and it will tighten up the play a little bit. As for your engine brakes if they are weak that's usually just an adjustment that can be done at the same time the valves are adjusted, it's not a very major job. If you're ever cruising through Massachusetts hit me up I'll adjust them for you lol. Take it easy man

Ayyyyeee preciate all the advice man. Lol yeah so steering now was actually leaking, by the time I had made this video I had told the guys at the shoe & the owners like 3 months ago. It's dad but it just takes a LOT more encouragement to get things done than it should. Same with the Jake's. You and I are on the same page. I went to college for heavy Vehicle Technology, (Diesel Mechanic) I told the owner exactly what it was and that it shouldn't take long to adjust as all. Never wanted to take the truck in 🤦🏾‍♂️ there was days I was going to park the truck and do it myself were just so busy. Take it easy man. Appreciate the support!
