@hendrik_jebens personally, my mind just becomes too concerned about not making faults during matches, but eventually, I make a lot of unforced errors because of my inner voice. If it is possible, I would be grateful if you could share some experience of yours and tips on keeping the head cool and mentally to maximise the resulting outcome even in struggling situations.
@hendrik_jebens6 күн бұрын
As a quick tip Focus on positive outcomes. Don’t tell the brain “don’t miss” it will just detect the word miss and focus on that. Feed the mind positive outcome “I will make every shot” “I hit great” etc

@nickhammond191410 күн бұрын
Yea exactly - I used this as a follow along! I know some of the highest watched clips from AthleanX is his 5-7min ab follow alongs. Bodyweight warrior also does follow along flexibility which is a good reference for this style. There isn’t any good tennis specific versions like this though - only very average super cuts of pros doing random exercises without context. Would be great to see more content like this!

Yes, it costs money to be a professional tennis player. By far, those who can’t pay the money are not good enough. The best option is college tennis, where you get pro level training for free with an education is thrown in. What we need to talk about the easiest way to make a living in all of pro sports - professional doubles. These guys and women are failed singles players. They never even breathe heavy in a match in their entire careers, even at the highest level. The level of pro doubles is going down every year. Notice how old the successful doubles players are? It’s because the level is falling. Ram and Bopanna were more mediocre 10 years ago. Now they are top of the pile. Shocking. Get the education and realize it’s greater value. Shockingly, among the many bad things that the USTA did to tennis was to talk down college tennis in the 90’s. A dream is not the answer in sports; results are the answer. College tennis takes care of having the dream and reality combine.

If ultimate pace is not the major determinant of success, why does Jim Courier, the world’s foremost authority on everything, harp on and on about a 2mph rise or drop in ground stroke speed? Serve and volley is “old school”? Try beating Medvedev, who returns from being seated in the back linesperson’s chair. Serve and volley is dead because of horrible coaching and terrible technique, like your forehand volley. The coaches today learned from coaches who can’t volley, and their coaches learned from coaches who can’t volley. The game decided that pace is king and no serve and volley by making the courts so slow. The players don’t have a committee to advise on the range of court speeds. Courier goes nuts when the courts in Paris are a bit faster, like it’s an insult to the game. A certain percentage of tournaments should be on slow, medium and fast courts. Your patterns and any patterns are based on both players’ abilities, not mathematics. Few players besides Federer can pick any shot out of thin air. Strategy with tons of errors in execution is worthless; the only pattern that matters is miss less balls than your opponent; only a tiny percentage of players at all levels have a close rate on their patterns that is on the plus side. And sitting a group of academy kids in a room and giving them the same patterns is like telling poker players when to bluff. Creating content is not the same as helping people.
