Oh my god. This is beautiful. So much amazing scenery and breathtaking sights out there. I am after discovering a love for avian activities. Gliding is on my mind since last week. I am so excited to become a member of the gliding community. Who knows what happens next. Maybe I will dare lessons and become a pilot. Thanks for the amazing video. It was more than inspiring.

News articles say he took off in turbulent winds and the winch cable broke when his glider was 200'-300' above ground.

beautiful - thank you for posting I had my first glider ride recently. We were towed off a grass strip by a crop duster type of plane. The acceleration seemed faster than I expected. I've read that a winch can accelerate the glider from 0-60 in about 3 seconds ! That is very fast - as fast as some of the quickest production cars you can buy. I'm guessing it is somewhere approaching 1G. In my first ride it seemed like we gained altitude quickly enough. In a winch launch it must seem like you are in a rocket. It must be quite an experience the first time you have a winch launch.
