I Cannot thank you enough for showing me this. My friends and I are planning a trip out to the Mighty Five. they were all trying to tell me the National Parks dont allow riding and I was pushing back stating that UTAH is huge and there are tons of places to ride. The areas you are riding in are just about my level of riding. I am actually surprised at the amount of trails. AGAIN. THANK YOU. I cant wait to take my bike out there and explore. WOOHOO!!! Eric, Mansfield, MA.
@RidefreakTV23 күн бұрын
Utah is a riding paradise, the riding in NPs is limited to marked vehicle trails of which there are some good ones. If your interested I have video of canyonlands, capitol Reef, not much if any dirt riding in Zion or Brice but near both there's lots of BLM land that you can ride. Thanks for tuning-in Eric.

That is really a beautiful place. I was wondering what would be a good time of year to go there, with more comfortable temps? Maybe early April. We were close in May but it was already way hot. Nice video!
@RidefreakTV28 күн бұрын
Thanks Joe, Feb is pretty ideal from what I hear from guys that go ride there every year. Cool enough at that time of year where heat isn't a factor and its light jacket weather except at the mtn tops where there could be snow.

Looked to be a nice easy-going and very scenic ride. Love the rear facing videos. Assuming the rear facing camera is bike mounted (versus mounted on the rider), the video appears to be quite smooth. You seem to be living the life that many of us can only dream about. Many thanks for sharing.
@RidefreakTVАй бұрын
Thanks for watching MrG. You're correct the cam is mounted to the rear rack on my dualsport bike and the gopro's stabilization handles that pretty good considering the bouncing the rear does. As for living the life, I only wish I could live it more, I don't get out that often on rides, many of my friends have retired from riding and I've slowed down considerably. I'm still working at it though, heading down the the Gila NF tomorrow with the 500 and the drone. Stay tuned!
@MrG338Ай бұрын
@@RidefreakTV I know the feeling about slowing down. Although I am doing my best to "keep the old man out," I tend to ride pretty carefully (slower) now. Look forward to the Gila NF ride video. Hope you enjoy the ride.

@@RidefreakTV What's the chances of getting in on a ride with you some day? Feel free to tell me to get lost, but thought I'd give it a try.
@algee8228Ай бұрын
Although the actual terrain underneath the wheels is often similar to what I ride here up in northern Ontario, one thing I love about the western US are that you can see so much of the surrounding terrain because of the sheer elevation and the sparsity of the forest...especially the desert areas. Closest I can come to that feeling up here is a big wide open powerline.

I normally use a garmin montana 600 but this trip I was using gaia app on my cell and had a wireless carplay adapter/display on the bars. Unfortunately it woundn't pair the second day and was useless. If you want a nice GPS I'd recommend a Garmin Zumo XT. Nice display and motorcycle rugged. Thanks for watching!

Great ride. I assume it was cooler weather (riders in some scenes had jackets on). I can appreciate that the video did not depict the roughness of the rides through the rocky areas (I bet the bumps were larger than they appeared in the video). It looks like you and your ride companions had a great time though. Thank you for sharing. Look forward to Part Two.
@RidefreakTVАй бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting Mr. G. Yes it's fall up there and it was kind of brisk, especially up at 10K' The riding wasn't too difficult and much of it was just forest roads since we were learning the area. The hader spots were short lived so it wasn't too bad.

@RidefreakTV2 ай бұрын
Hate to say it but it didn't work out. It was perfect day one, easy to use etc... then on D2 or D3 it wouldn't pair. I'm probably going to upgrade to a better one with a slightly larger screen. You're right, the 500s made the ride easy, it was 17mi of nice pavement all downhill curves leaving snowy pass to get back to the campsite, that was a fun stretch too.

Very interesting area. I was not aware that Alabama had such terrain (I really need to get out that way sometime). I was also not aware that this is where the Lone Ranger scenes were filmed. I always assumed that westerns were filmed in Utah, Arizona, and the like. I see that you used a DJI mini 3 Pro on this in lieu of your usual Skydio 2. Any particular reason for this or was it merely driven by portability of the smaller DJI drone? Regardless, the video quality was excellent, as always. Many thanks for sharing. I look forward to seeing some footage from your trip to Wyoming. Safe travels sir...
@RidefreakTV2 ай бұрын
I had both drones with me but forgot the beacon for the sky dio at home so I wasn't able to do any follow videos. Disappointing since I was planning some Skydio filming in the Nevada desert. The M3P is better for the scenic shots IMO. Thanks for watching MrG.👍

great video. Quick question, are you allowed to fly drones at the Burr trail? Thanks
@RidefreakTV2 ай бұрын
Back then it wasn't posted but that's no excuse. No it isn't allowed in any of the NPs w/o a special permit from what I've been able to find out.
@KausnHavokАй бұрын
@RidefreakTV My understanding is the dirt road part of the Burr Trail is part of Capitol Reef and drones aren't allowed but the paved road part is not so drones are allowed on it. Still nice footage, man.

Mostly people drive to interesting spots, get out and climb around, there's books that show where some of the famous scenes were shot out there and those are often quite visited. We just drove around and got out where it looked interesting. Probably a little hot to hike that doy (95F). Thanks for watching algee.

Another great video. I had been looking forward to another ride video. This looks like a great location to get in some sand riding practice. We are still working to restore the trails in our local National Forest here is Texas (lots of rain, and a hurricane, plus many downed trees has had us shut down for some time now). We hope to get one side of the trail system open up soon. Therefore, outside of forest volunteer workdays, your videos are the only riding I get to do...even if virtually. Welcome back! I certainly hope all is going OK with you sir. Thanks again.

Reminds me how great the riding there was. I rented a KTM from a shop in Moab and rode through Canyonlands up to the top of the plateau (sorry, don't recall the name of the road.) The guy showed me an "easy canyon " to come back down on the map and I assumed "easy"! Once I started there was no going back, it was slip and slide down a dry waterfall to the bottom. Super pucker. I think he assumed I had skills! The KTM saved my butt, and the rest of the day was just sightseeing. Tons of fun! Oh, and he said "there's no gas along the way, take this" It was a Prestone jug full of gas in a backpack! I rode the day with a bomb on my back!😄
