Fricken losers trying to upstage each other with corpse paint and how "badass" they looked and sounded: pure BM in a nutshell. Faddish. And as all fads, it will soon outgrow itself. Just play music, gotdam satan fashionistas lmfao!
@jimmysaboter36 жыл бұрын
It will soon outgrow itself? It's been at least 27 years Black Metal is alive.
@jimmysaboter36 жыл бұрын
BM is foremost an ideological movement in extreme music. Hence lyrics have to talk about the Left Hand Path (occultism) mostly. The fact that stylistically you can invent some riffs that sound Mayhem-esque (or Thorn-esque) or like Burzum doesn't mean that you'll play Black Metal if your lyrics are "heeeey we fucked some hoes the other day!!!". Spikes and corpsepaint or Pig Heads are not important and yes were only used more as a tool to look evil (mostly by Euronymous), but there are quite a few people that have a more serious approach to corpsepaint. They may look like clowns but they feel an urge to do so (cause they enter a more morbid state of mind). It's all about the theatre of the midn after all. But anyway bands that now wear corpsepaint are much less. Maybe you should even delve to some more occult bands that don't act like clowns (cough Abbath cough) and are more serious. Like Ved Buens Ende, Thorns and Deathspell Omega.

Firstly, i am very progressive and explorative when it comes to music, and my musical taste is wide and diverse than most. I understand the music and ideology of the genre, but spare me the laughable antics--i am into BM (preferably the atmospheric subgenre) for its music, and all the philosophy and most of the emotions it conveys, nothing else. The superficial, juvenile and off-putting trivialities doesn't interest any serious music fan at all, and that includes me. Music is music sans the "fashion" or theatrics associated with whatever genre it finds itself into. The lyrics is even secondary for me. It's the emotion, the ideology and general atmosphere and spirit that BM conveys: BM can either be instrumental or just plain silence, i dun mind. Lyrics only reinforces it, and not the spirit of the genre per se. Anyway, I have a lot of respect for bands and musicians who are deep and serious about their stuff, so perhaps i may explore into some of your recommendations and see for myself. I just hate the theatrics, the juvenile jokesterism, the outward trappings which most may do to divert attention from their lack of talent, depth, intellectual content, psycho-spiritual energy, etc.--distractions that may either mask talentlessness, or steal attention away from real talent. BM is good enough sans the Alice Cooper-esque theatrics, Kiss-ish facepaint, or Varg's attention-whoring [church-burning] vandalism.

Hmmm try Ved Buens Ende - You, that may wither or Ved Buens Ende - Remembrance of things past Don't think you will regret it. Deathspell Omega are more chaotic and are more Voivod-esque cause there are twisted riffs and no melodies.

i found that Emperor interview around 13:00 really funny. Ihsahn was feeling confident, while Samoth was like "no!"
@jimmysaboter36 жыл бұрын
Ihsahn was full of shit. Their demo was released July 11th 1992 while "A Blaze in the Northern Sky" (full album) was released on February 1992. What impact did a fucking demo with no European distribution have and what impact did "Blaze..." have? A 2nd LP backed by Peaceville Records. Sorry but Ihsahn is full of shit here.
