Juggling is also good for chemists. Over my career i have caught many a piece of glassware in mid-fall. Also, it helped me be more competetive in recreational basketball and football. Making circus-like receptions in football and becoming a basketball stealer as well as seeing my basketball teammates better out of my peripheral vision. Every wanabe athelete needs to learn how to juggle!

I actually remember watching this when it originally aired. Earlier in the show, Carson had interviewed a guy who had a trained bird (parakeet, I think) named Axel who was going to perform on the show. But the night before the show, the guy had let the bird loose in his hotel room, then fell asleep in the bed-and rolled over on the bird, accidentally killing it. So Carson decided to still interview the guy, showed the audition film so the audience could see the bird’s tricks, and gave him a new bird to begin training. That’s why @4:08, when the guy says, “that was Axel F, in memory of Axel”, it got such a laugh.

I thought of saying the Axel joke as I was doing my act during that performance. As I was saying it I felt like I was jumping off a cliff.

One of my favorite juggling performances of all time! Slightly edited here. I recall a funny line about Beethoven rolling over in his grave. And a nice prover when you "dropped" a ball and hit a sour note. Top notch all the way. So talented. Deserving of all the success you achieved.

Great performance! He's not playing those exact notes, though. It's triggering the next note(s) in the sequence each time.

Not true. He did this live hundreds or thousands of times--and you can even see a couple "mistakes" in this one that played where the ball hit, and not where they "should have."
