I don't bob up and down like that. I find it's more efficient & faster to stay down and kick 3 or 4 times together wirh one leg (grrat arm exercise!) and then get back upright on the platform to glide for quite a way. Then I'll swap legs and repeat. It's maybe just a personal choice but I find it much more enjoyable than bobbing up and down + less tiring (I travel up to about 15 miles in 1 go & am 63).

Hello from England...I'm waiting for a right knee replacement and considering what exercise is going to aid recovery post-op and I don't mean immediately post op but a few months later. I will be able to support myself well with my left unoperated leg but imagine using my right leg to scoot as strength builds. What I will need to avoid is using my right leg on the deck to support the weight of my body especially as the deck leg would have to be bent at the knee. I'm not seeking a medical opinion but am curious as to whether you think a kick scooter would be a good way to exercise without weight-stressing the operated leg. Many thanks for the video. Very clear and helpful. Jay

This is my first scooter and probably the best toy I've had in my 38 years of life ; ) kzbin.infoUgkxvyNuxpWiHTNypxG6nyqyf7ywc7Q16PDM The assembly was easy - Took me 10-12 mins to get it set up and enjoy a quick ride before putting it on the charger for the full charge.I love the push-off feature vs. some of the other scooters that start with direct acceleration. I believe this allows a bit more of a stable start with a jerk reaction. I also like the throttle/acceleration feature that its a slow increase in speed vs. what you would get in a motorcycle. I've taken advantage of the anti-theft system when taking the scooter out to the beach and city. I like the anti-theft system as well as the need to enter a code after you turn it on before you can operate. The powerful front lights are helpful for a night ride. You can see in the picture how powerful the light is as a reflection on the garage. I'm impressed with the lightweight and how easy it was for me to get it set up and going. I would highly recommend this for someone looking for a scooter.

Great video! I love kick scooter because I am very heavy but I can get a similar workout like you would from running. Kick scooter is very low impact. Thank you for such a thorough video about technique! I’ve learned that some people are snide about adults scooter or kick biking, but there’s only one thing to say - They haven’t tried it!!!!

something about this device and it's use, is 'challenged'...i can't spot it, other than the mechanics seem non-continuous...the physical evidence might be the top speed. the forward momentum of the upper body sends a counter-wave form to the base... conservation of momentum is inhibited, and maximum speed is thereby reduced. plus the additional weight brings increased friction, air resistance, and acceleration decline. roller blading is probably more energy conservative; even more so, if the arms have those two poles, but the wheels are smaller, and cause more friction at the bearings...and surface contact, but at least the arms and upper body offer some energy conservation. now, if some science team would like to determine the validity of the theory, that would be nice...

I know this is an old video, but where could I look to purchase a bike like this? Disc brakes and a front shock are nice, and the bike looks good too. My ultimate goal is to convert it to an EV. I live in the US, and all I can seem to find is the little kids scooters.
@M15TERx4 жыл бұрын
Hello, just browsing while in lockdown and started looking at these again. Kickbike.com is the USA site where there are a selection of models. I also found a Schwinn review but don't know if this is a current model. I've only used smaller wheel scooters before but these look interesting.

Sir first of all thank you very much for this video. could you please explain why are differences between the wheels? I mean what’s the point of using 2 different size of wheels.? Does it have to do with speed or is there any other explanation?
@InvisiMan20065 жыл бұрын
Larger wheel gives more stability; smaller wheel in the back keeps the weight low and improve maneuverability.

Is a kickbike the same as a kick scooter?
@owenjones-wells93954 жыл бұрын
Very similar, but a kickbike (like that shown in the video) will have larger wheels, like bicycle wheels. These are more efficient and faster. Their great fun.

This is a great video. I ride a razor A5 Lux scooter. I don't to long distances, but would like to start. Kicking seems like more of a high impact activity than pedaling a bicycle. Have you had any tendonitis/joint pain?
@Bflo23 Жыл бұрын
I run, bike, longboard/cruiser/skateboard and started rollerblading. Kicking (scooter or skateboard) is fine if you use correct technique. I have been running and playing tennis for years and I don't have tendonitis/joint pain. Try to always transfer shock to the muscles. Kicking is easier on my joints. I think pedaling is more fluid though. As for riding long distances on an A5 scooter? You gotta consider your skill, conditioning and surface you are riding on. I have fun riding my longboard/cruiser to the gym 2 miles away (4 miles of kicking and do cardio workout at gym) but I don't like riding my skateboard with small hard wheels long distances especially over little rocks or cracks. To me skateboard is for tricks. If you got a long smooth journey, it will be much easier and faster with your hard wheels.

Cool. When you get a scooter, you will find flat surfaces are your friend. In addition its possible to ride a scooter WITHOUT kicking haha. Its a funny trick from BMX racing where you pump teh bike through transitions. Well you do a similar thing with teh scooter but on the horizontal plane. On flat ground the furthest i've gone on an unpowered scooter not putting my foot down is about a mile til i hit rough terrain.

I commute 6km to work on a kick e scooter. The deck is slightly higher due to battery's and wheel's are smaller but I will take a few notes from this guy as I do sometimes feel kicking at higher speeds unsettle's the scooter. I can kick up to 19kmph with no motor assistance but I can assist the scooter up to 22kmph after that don't bother, I will lose my shoe. The scooter will do 32kmph on the flat. Although my scooter is electric I need to kick off to start the motor (some safety thing) and at traffic lights the bike lanes disappear so i need to join the fast moving cars. And a few good kicks gets me off the line as fast as most motorbikes and cyclists sitting beside me, And obviously I need to kick on the steep hills. I do find the leg on the deck gets sore before the one doing the kicking but it's easy to just swap.
