What mic do you recommend for the Hermes? Just ordered mine.
@KP68videogates26 күн бұрын
Hello sir. Because there are so many variables, it's a tough question to answer. If you are just getting into this I would recommend a dynamic mic at a price point of a $100 or less. I still have my Shure SM58 and it's a great mic at about $100. I've heard some $50 mics that sound very nice but in general you get what you pay for so don't go too cheap. In the end, whether it be a $50 mic or a $500 mic, most of it depends audio processing. I've heard very expensive mics sound horrible because of improperly set audio processing (like me🤪 lol) and a $50 mic sound great with proper audio processing. Whichever mic you decide on, get settled in with it and over time you'll be able to get a feel what you like or dislike about it and then you'll know what to look for in a mic if you decide to upgrade.
@tyjohnson655326 күн бұрын
@ In the video you done with the Hermes with no processed audio was you using the SM 58? I was in the flex world years ago, got out of the hobby and now coming back in.

@@tyjohnson6553 That was my Electrovoice RE320 and still is. Before that was my RE20 and before that was my SM58 and before that was my Shure SM57. The only mic that I didn't care for was the Shure SM57. As you can see, I went through a few before settling into my RE320.

I believe the FCC stipulates that with the mode in use a bandwidth no wider than required in order to communicate is to be used. In other words, no hi-fi. Hey there rockhaller. Cakewalk has it all to start and it's all free, everything you need to sound great. Third party plugins also work with Cakewalk but you have purchase them, although some you can find for free. Me personally, I don't mind spending money on certain third party plugins that are extremely useful. For example, some of the plugins that I bought are the PAZ analyzer and my VU meters. @@Z28videogates It is stellar on AM and all TX parameters are virtually unlimited. It is capable of commercial AM broadcast quality. For the audio processing you can use rack audio gear, VST (Virtual Studio Technology), or the audio processing that Thetis software comes with, or a blend of all 3. The Thetis software that you saw is where the magic happens. The radio is quite expensive but it is in a league of its own.

KP68 Do you monitor yourself live on air over the air while talking? I'm having trouble trying to figure out this live latency issue. I'm running Thetis with a Hermes Lite 2. Although I'm also running an old windows 10 machine. Could that be the issue? Please help. Thank you!!!!
@KP68videogates2 ай бұрын
So sorry for the late reply. I assume you mean listening to your talking voice during TX with headphones? The only thing I monitor is my Cakewalk audio processing which is routed to the line OUT on my computer, then I have a Y cable splitter that plugs into the line OUT on my computer. One side of the splitter goes to my headphones and the other side goes to the line IN on my ANAN. I am not using the headphone jack on the radio. Are you using external audio processing or Thetis audio tools? Also, are your headphones plugged into the headphone jack on the Hermes or your computer? Yes, a slow or older bloated computer can definitely cause latency. When Thetis is running you should be able to see you computer usage percentage at the bottom left of the main Thetis screen. Let me know what it is. I'm sorry you are having latency issues and know first hand how it can drive you crazy. Hit me up with more details. I hope I made sense here.
