What is the exact distance you cut from the fretboard at the 0th fret exactly to accommodate the nut?

It is ok you can't tell. you just don't have the ability to understand the player instrument interface. Many don't . I am not lying when I say I hear the difference. the sustain of frequencies in the midrange as well as the volume of the frequencies. I have come to this conclusion from over forty years experience. Young guys are stupid. I know that FOR SURE. Always twenty somethings , you just don't get it, there is evidence, there are graphs and you can see and hear it in real time. Even Glenn's vid with a guy, with a ash and alder they say "No Difference" BUT I HEARD A DIFFERENCE! if you don't you just have a tin ear. You all have to be convinced, because you can't hear it. Those of us that can tell are laughing at you all.

About science. Unless you've been living under a rock, you will have noticed how science DOES change it's opinion or findings , from time to time. Covid was a great example. There are many more that i've seen over the last 10 years. Also...tonewood tests should NOT be done electronically. You're testing tone wood acoustic qualities . Throw the pickups in the bin and listen to the actual construction of a variety of guitars. I'm saying to actually LISTEN instead of everyone talking absolute shit.
@DKGCustom
@DKGCustom 2 ай бұрын
if you throw the pickups in the bin, then you dont have an electric guitar. Tonewood tests on ELECTRIC guitars should absolutely be done electronically. Or do you do Astronomy by looking through your grans knickers. You dont seem to understand HOW science works
@RodneyMcMinge
@RodneyMcMinge 2 ай бұрын
A very simple basic example . You walk into a shop and there are 3 , let's say , strat type guitars , hanging on the wall. You strum each one in it's hanger , not against anyone's body ( choking any vibrations ). Many times you'll notice that one of the 3 projects much, much louder acoustically than the others . Are you going to try and tell me that it's because of the electronics ?
@DKGCustom
@DKGCustom 2 ай бұрын
@@RodneyMcMinge no...but the electronics does not care about that. And the electronics is what makes an electric guitar, by disturbing a magnetic field with steel strings. How does what you describe alter the electromagnetic interaction? Its that simple

For me the argument is similar to that of production vs hand-wired amps. Does one sound better? I say yes...but ONLY to those with 'trained ears' or in my case (at 62) with well practiced and developed ears/tastes....i.e., those who truly can tell the difference (even if imaginary). My youngest son can discriminate between same-make bourbons...to me, they all taste the same, mostly. If you can tell the difference and this difference will inspire you...spend the extra $$. I recently graduated to hand-wired amps and my first Custom Shop (Tele). Do they sound different, better than pro production amp/guitars. Oh..YES. I can hear the magic. To each his own.

Oh, the ongoing tone wood debate isn't going to be solved here. I like to think I am a reasonable person. I think pickups, setup, nut, bridge, electronics and strings all have an impact on tone. I've seen the videos that show wood makes no difference but I've seen other demos where a rosewood fret board sounded different than a maple fret board. My opinion is the woods used and how they are used such as solid, chambered, semi-hollow and hollow make a small difference in tone but the biggest difference is the pickups and components that touch the strings or deliver the signal to the amp.

Ok, the message is that one can use any kind of wood. Yes that is the truth, one can make almost anything from anything and it will be super fine or not. There fore an mechanic and a construction worker/builder will never be out of job! I know for sure working in both areas and it is easy to move that knowledge over to guitars. People who are pusching the everything goes envelope are two kinds. 1. A self declared Pope all mighty Messiah 2. A Moron. Both are stupid as simple as that.

Jim Lill completely debunket that tonewood matters on solid body guitars with none microphonic pickups. But there will always be some that feel the need to defend their purchase by including that the wood matters a lot for the tone. Same with pickups, while they add a minor difference which can be heard as plotted it still isn’t even close to what EQ’s can do. There is only one component in a complete e-guitar signal chain that has a frequency response graph, that and technique are the main things people hear, the rest is more a visual and feel thing. Even regardiding resonance, if the wood mattered as much as some seem to believe, how come that there are actual live footage of rockstars needing to continuesly move their very expensieve guitars made with assumable the best selection in woods to keep it ringing? Besides that their are quite a few guitars these days that don’t have a single piece of wood in them, yet they still sound like a premium slab of wood with the same pickups and strings. If some hear a difference anyway, maybe about time to plug into an amp or simply cranck the volume up to the point where the acoustics are inaudible.

Absolutely loved it you hit the nail on the head. There are many factors that can contribute to guitar tone however there are many things you can do to compensate for those as well. I saw another post recently that showed fairly clearly that the type of pickups and distance from the strings was one of the most significant factors affecting the tone other than the electronics and the amp downstream.... In fact he took the neck away all together and made the body out of a couple of benches and basically played an air guitar to prove his point. Tonewood is bullshit!!!!!

Solid body electric guitars are not acoustic instruments and electric guitar pickups are not microphones. Once the tonewood buffoons get those two facts through their thick sculls we can put this stupid and pointless controversy to rest. Unscrupulous guitar salesmen have perpetuated this upsellers myth to make more profit selling upscale guitars that sound no different than guitars made from cheaper materials.

Let MM do what he wants, you know as well as I do that he was never good enough to be in Queen. Adam is not a karaoke singer QAL are not ruining anything Bob, because of Adam whether you like it or not Queen have made the biggest comeback in Rock History, be as bitter as you like Bob, it won't make one bit of a difference. Plenty of MM Videos where he imitates Freddie, go and support him.

t's a weird thing I can't hear when other people play even switching pickups say from the bridge to the neck which imo is a big difference in tone when I play the guitar. For years I searched for a sound I only had one guitar that had it and for years I couldn't figure it out then it hit me when I got my first les Paul and there it was I then sold some 30 guitars I had mainly epiphones and squires and bought like 10 high end mahogany body guitars and my tone quest was over. There is a certain snarl in a mahogany body guitar that I like. Right now my best sounding guitar is an epiphone custom pro heavy as a boat anchor but man does it sound good 👍
