1. Microsoft Edge (Don't use) 2. Google Chrome, Firefox -> Whatever, just a browser. They run on everything that has a processor and ram. 3. LibreOffice -> Unintuitive, clunky and has the worst interface of any office software i've ever seen 4. Audacity -> Actually good 5. VLC Player ->better than paid alternatives 6. OBS Studio -> gold standard 7. Gimp, Photopea -> both are photoshop from wish. One of them is just a website. 8. Inkscape. -> Same problem as libreoffice with the added bonus of using the CAIRO graphics. 9. DiVinci Resolve, Kdenlive, Shotcut -> Resolve is the industry standard. The rest are just a glorified version of windows movie maker 10. Blender - > Have you EVER seen something good that came out of blender? Everything feels cheap. --- My Suggestions [...] 13. Figma -> Unnoficial random github app 14. Thunderbird ->got really better 15. Discord, Zoom -> ok if you have to use it 16. Lutris, Steam -> ANALOGY: You swap your bmw ECU with your neighbour's fiat ECU and drives at 20mph max speed while consuming double the gas just because it was free. Linux is free only if you don't value your time.

Employees have no choice if a company uses Adobe products or other proprietary software tools. They might be given the option to choose between Windows or Mac. Freelancers, entrepreneurs, and small businesses can try using free open-source alternatives to avoid getting locked into expensive monthly subscriptions. Thing is one I understand why certain kinds of Proffessionals need Photoshop, its usually because you're Employer forces you to use Industry Standards because Companies hate to Relearn how to do things, for very Legitimate Reasons.(if you look up the Statistics, which we have thanks to Windows Telemetry. Less than one 1.6% of Windows users use Photoshop and even less make full use of the Adobe Suite. That less than the 4.66% of Total Linux Users, there is also way more Creatives than just 1.6% of Windows Adobe Suite users actually most 2D Art and Musical Creatives usually Buy Macs or Ipads, or High End Samsung Galaxy Tablets that can actually Run Krita for Drawing, Windows was never for us Artistic Types, it was Designed for the Office, Apple went on to Target Creatives because Microsoft was not at the Time.) Gimp is not a Drop in Replacement for Photoshop yes and the Linux Comunity needs to stop Recommending. Especially when there is a better "Alternative" I say in Air Qoutes because its not one Program. You have to go from using Photoshop to atleast 3 different Applications. Krita, Inkscape and Photopea. Gimp is only Meant for Photomanipulation. Photoshop covers Photomanipulation, Drawing and Video Editing, etc... things that when you go outside Photoshop other Programs only pick one of. When it comes to 3D Artist well the Only Time you're not using Blender is if you are Working for a Corporation that prefers to Pay money for theor Software or in House 3D modeling Suite or are going to college to get hired for one of these Companies. Blender Spoils its Users and is fully Functional on Linux. With Blender you don't even need Photoshop to make Textures. You can Literally just Paint the Models inside Blender itself. Linux is currently Lacking the right Areas for Musical Artists and my Fellow 2D Artists, but the Thing about Linux. Is that its constantly Changing and if you want to see Linux Change in a way that is friendly to us Creative Types you have to become part of the Linux Community and start pushing for what you want. Microsoft and Apple have both Chosen to keep their OSes as is and seemed to have confused Trend Chasing for Growth and have Prioritized it over Comfortable User Experience. If you Want Linux to become User Friendly then you're going to have to Daily Drive it and be Part of the People that Subment Bug Reports and QOL requests to the Devs.

I've upgraded along the way and now run v22. I love it and see no reason to ever go back to Windows. I found work arounds for every Windows only apps. I like Libreoffice, and I use Google Drive and apps. I'm not a gamer but I do audio, video, and photography. I just installed Mint 22 Xfce on my dad's old 11" MacBook Air, and it works like a charm and really flies! Perfect everyday distro, especially great for rescuing older machines that wouldn't get updates anymore otherwise. The Xfce variant is not quite as polished as the Cinnamon variant, but it's quite a bit snappier, and still very well-rounded. The fact that the online accounts app is now working with Xfce and Mate as well is another great bonus!
