What the logic behind your choice of a Bb-lydian dominant before the Ab-Maj7 in measure 13? I could easily have missed something, but that doesn't comport with your approach and logic for the other lydian-dominant additions/substitions.

Hmm could you provide a timestamp for where I did that?
@alanzelicoff342114 күн бұрын
@@charlietranpiano I erred. Instead, you (logically) played the Bb-lydian dominant before the A-7b5 at around 9:30 into the video. So, it looks like one way to recall when to use the lydian-dominant is that it can simply be a half-step above just about any chord to which one is going, subject to the melody not clashing, yes? And thank you.

Do you have the score for this? Thanks

Lydian dominants are so warm and spiky. I think imma just tritone sub everything

It would've helped to see you do it first with root voicing, but you challenged me with inversions (in A good way)
@charlietranpiano16 күн бұрын
I thought I stuck entirely to root position! Could you show me where I’m doing inversions?

That voicing at 10:26 is so lovely. It jumped out at me as Keith Jarrett uses the exact chord in bar 2 of his version of Londonderry Air (Danny Boy). I've been calling it the "Jarrett voicing" all this time haha

The rub of the fourth and major third on a dominant 7 chord just sounds so bittersweet to me. It sounds so good but it’s so slept on
