I have this knife for almost a month and I'm happy with it. It fits my hand and ergonomically from end to end. Now I know this may not be true for everyone. People's preference and hands differ and people have to try out knives that suites them. This knife is a little lighter than the green aluminum 940 and isn't quite as cold to hold. I had a chance to try out both of these at the store and I'm glad I settled on this one - I was originally going to get the G-10 version.

A few but hurt commenters about the pricing rant. They are correct that bitching about it probably won’t change anything so is really a waste of time (but feels so good) but them watching and commenting is also a waste of their time and will not change a thing. I love this general design. This is a very attractive version. I own a couple knives with 6" blades and they are too large for concealed carry. As already mentioned, a 5" blade version would appeal to me more. I just don't like black coated knives. I don't like "blackwash" blades either. I think stonewashing is the way to go on this type of knife.

Very cool design. I would definitely EDC a smaller version of this with like a 4.5 inch blade and shorter handle if it were made available. 11.5" overall length is just too big to conceal for EDC.
@ggtacticalandoutdoorsАй бұрын
You raise a VERY good point..I didn't even think about that. This knife wouldn't be a first choice for conceal EDC - I was thinking more open carry like on a backpack or if you were going full body tactical. Damn - I should ask Spartan if they will make a smaller one in the future 🤔
@allan4800Ай бұрын
I love Tanto style fixed blade tactical knives and this is a great rendition of the Tanto style knife. The only thing it is missing IMHO is a lanyard hole at the base of the handle. It's truly a shame that this feature was not included in the design, but I will defer to Tu Lam's judgement on this. I still like this knife a lot and will end up getting a copy sooner or later.
@ggtacticalandoutdoorsАй бұрын
Funny you mention this because I've noticed many of Spartan's fixed blades include the lanyard hole w/ lanyard. There must have been either a tactical or practical reason why Tu Lam did not incorporate this. I'll see if I can find out from Spartan

@ggtacticalandoutdoorsАй бұрын
Well, anything American made is going to cost higher (materials, labor, overhead, etc.). Or in this case Taiwan made with backing of American company. At the end of the day it's good to support small American businesses and our friends in Taiwan. You're getting a quality product and keeping money in our economy shopping locally - not buying directly from an overseas company. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for your feedback though - it's good to hear other's opinions.
@allan4800Ай бұрын
@@ggtacticalandoutdoors Spartan blades is a U.S. based company, owned and operated by two retired U.S. Special Forces veterans. This knife is actually made in Taiwan. If you research it, you will find that goods made in Taiwan are regarded as BETTER QUALITY ACROSS THE BOARD vs. goods made in China. Communist China does not profit from goods made in Taiwan so you are not supporting a totalitarian dictatorship that engages in flagrant human rights abuses when you buy this made in Taiwan knife. This knife was designed by Tu Lam, a retired U.S. Army Special Forces (Special Mission Unit, AKA Delta) who spent his life fighting against Communist oppression around the globe; he is not going to then turn around and have his knife made in a location that puts money into the ChiCom coffers to fund their stealth war against America. As for D2 steel, it is a solid choice. It is not a "gourmet" steel like the newer high tech CPM steels but D2 does have a solid history of performance as a tool steel, based on my research. The choice of D2 keeps the price of this knife out of the $400-500+ range, which is out of reach for many people these days (thanks for destroying the value of the U.S. dollar, Chomo Joe). Tu Lam and Spartan made a good call in keeping this knife more affordable for more buyers IMHO.

Looks like a nicely ground blade with milled G10 scales. Made in Taiwan. Sheath is blow molded. Heat treat assumed good I'd say $100-120. For $175 I would also expect a kydex sheath. Overall nice knife tho.
