It's so nice to hear such an accomplished duo. And as a viola player who has a Stanick copy, it's encouraging to see that it can be played with such nuance and musicality. Very inspiring.

Brilliant performance. I watched it twice on PBS, and both times I was moved to tears. If this concert is available for purchase, I would do so in a heartbeat. Please continue to post more music from this wonderful school.

Our alumni group, the Fredonia Jazz Ensemble 1970's portion starts around 1:25:02. The volume is very low, and even more so at around 1:28. If at all possible, use headphones, or at least, ear buds. Regretfully, you can hardly hear Patti Dunham singing. She has a wonderful voice.

Classical Music Academia itself artificially created the hard separation of 'composing' and 'performing' which previously (anytime before the 1700's) did not exist: all performers were composers and all composers were performers. Later, the same Classical Music Academia asks, "Why are women discouraged from composing, why are their pieces not played?". Duh. The problem today is not gender, the problem is the prohibition against composing new music by anyone, whether the composer is notating or improvising, a prohibition which still restricts all Classical performers. No living composer, except in rare circumstances, can have their unheard compositions performed today, regardless of their gender. That is the root problem, that is Classical Music Academia's problem, still. Orchestras have been regulated into being cheap cover bands performing the same hundred works of the same long-dead composers, for the past several generations of musicians.
