I'm not and was never a fan of Amanda. She may help run a farm but she has the help of her large family and is never alone or isolated. She makes plenty money running the farm and from the TV show. Hanna Hawxwell was a real tough , admirable and resilient Yorkshire farming lady . She was a woman who knew real hardship of living on a farm and trying to run it , all alone in isolation too . She had no central heating , no electricity and no mains supply of water ( and had to walk down to a stream regardless of weather conditions to fetch her water every day, ( having to break through the ice with her bare hands in winter to get to the water) . She was alone and had no family support whatsoever. Despite her hard life she remained humble and charming ( unlike Amanda , who is neither of those things ) .
