Bars 5-14 of this solo was the shot heard round the world for the era of modern jazz drumming back when this dropped in 09. Futuristic even today! The NYC scene is still recovering from the era where everyone was trying to cop this 😆 brilliant work w this video 🦾

I'm having a hard time counting the bars when I'm doing the polymeter stuff. Any advice for making it easier?
Great stuff thanks! I think the hh notation was a little off in beat 4 of the 1st bar at 5:19🤓

Bright and punchy but very nice! I,ve been thinking the Yamaha bop kit is a little warmer and much ,much cheaper and wuoldcsound warmer and woodier but still great! I have Canopus snare that is a great drum. Bought it used in Japan for 200$ but it,s spotless!

Your playing is phenomenal. I see you've been enjoying that kit for a while. Is there a reason you prefer the 16 10 13 configuration opposed to standard bop sizes?
@jazzykrusty3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the words! I like little size cause they are more than enough for playing jazz in an acoustic context, and even further you can play with a little bit more strength without overwhelming the pther musicians.

hands down the best drum tutorial on youtube. not only did you have a killer transcription made, you gave us the tools to get inside of marcus' head and explore the same ideas he uses, but to have to rely on our own musicality and to make it sound our own. great job man, i can't even believe how much work, effort and thought you put into this.
