Please just have traditional singers, singing properly. That rushed version of Jerusalem was very disappointing. When the singers shorten the long notes like that, there is no profundity to the impact of the words, no time for them to be prayer-like or emotionally effecting. All the drama was taken out of every song, though some were oddly sang as if opera. Please. Revert to tradition. These were all spoiled.

A great selection of traditional hymns we don’t always get to hear enough nowadays. However, personally I’d have preferred these sung more as they always were in schools and churches. All these singers seem to try to jazz them up a bit: the long notes being slightly shortened and the short notes slightly lengthened. It spoils it quite considerably.

I lived in Capetown for the greater part of my life .songs of praise used to air on sabc 3 the national broadcaster there.i used to schedule my Sunday afternoons around this wonderful program. Still gives me devine chills watching this .one of the best gospel shows I've ever seen
