Hmm.. I've always been taught NOT to submerge the trailer. The wheels should never touch water. But here it's mostly salt water though. I usually stop before the water hits the rim, just tire in the water, and then just winch it out. It starts floating pretty quickly.

Depends on what options you pick. Starting price is USD $78,000.00 + Tax according to www.beneteau.com/en-us/antares-outboard/antares-7-ob. Mine is over CAD $150,000.00 with boat trailer.

The way you launch and retrieve your boat with such skill and ease puts a lot of the other boaters in the other videos shown on youtube ,mainly in Florida, look like total beginners.No need for those bits of plastic sticking up to help them guide their boats on to the trailers. A masterclass in all aspects of boating.

Hi Albert Ho. Just bought a 2012 ML350 bluetec diesel. Can you do a video of how you install your brake controller and how you setup the ML350 for towing (tow mode vs sport mode vs air suspension max high) and the regular maintenance you do to keep the ML350 going for as long as it can.

I always make sure the Engine starts before I leave the house . I don’t want to drive all the way to the lake to find out it’s dead for some reason. I seen this happen this weekend, skipper put the boat in the water, release it from the trailer and the engine wouldn’t start. Messed with it for over an hour. Put it back in the trailer and left. 🤦♂️

I've been boating since birth, launching my boats from 18-42' with a car full of friends for casual days locally mostly on the great lakes, then on poker runs around the country, to this day the best way is for nobody to touch anything, I have everything under perfect control. Stay in the car until im tied to the dock. Any time people try to "help" it messes up my well planned launch, docking, or retrivial. Only other seasoned boaters are helpful, otherwise most people screw you up!
@capt.craiglehrke43952 ай бұрын
On that ramp way to long. More like how not to launch a boat.

yup quicker to back up next to the dock, pull it with 2 lines and tie up n get out. At peak times that is way too long

Like the statement at 3:20 "Slow is you friend, don't rush". I don't think that he would of had too many friends at the ramp that day upon that performance.

@jimquantic2 ай бұрын
Really good--the only thing I add, is a rope from my truck to the boat. When you got in the car, and slid it back a bit--yes, I know that you knew, it would not float off and that's cool. But for me, I have backed up--just a tad, and had the damn thing float off. So I use a cord measured careful, from the back of my truck to the boat at the attachment point, so I can haul it back if she floats off. Anyway, appreciate that you did not submerge the back of your car--no need for that as we both know. One more thing, you are younger and more agile, you climbed that trailer mount like a monkey--I can't. But I did see the coolest step--not cheap--that you attach to the trailer, so guys like me can mount and dismount the boat. You don't need it--obviously, but they are cool. Thanks for posting, this is important stuff for sure. You probably know, to let the weight of the truck be held first, with the emergency brake THEN the gears. But I see people ALL THE TIME, let the weight of the rig rest on the gears--bad, bad, bad. And if I may add, and I know many disagree with me, but I don't encourage boating alone, why? Everything on a boat--think about it, is "redundant", my main engine and a back-up engine, two anchors, two radios, two of everything. Yet, the most important thing, the person, only one? No back-up if YOU get hurt, or you go overboard. To my mind, redundancy there is the most important of all.
@albertho_2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. Yes, I did the research and try to install those steps to the trailer, but as you said not cheap. So far I can still climb up and down like a monkey. But one day I do need that for sure. Yes, I agree with you that boating alone is risky. But I like boating and enjoy the sea so much. Not that many of my friends and family will join me every time. Usually when I go boating alone, I won’t go far and take extra precautions. Again, thank you for your inputs. 😊
@jimquantic2 ай бұрын
Yeah I hear that I really do. Boating alone is not so risky that it requires staying home.

We have Jeanneau 695 which is very similar size as your boat. I was wondering we could drive our boat to Desolation sound from Anacortes (Washington state) as I thought our boat is not big enough and it has single engine. Then I found your trip to Desolation sound! You encourage me to plan this trip! Just having single engine makes me scared 😅
@albertho_3 ай бұрын
Yes, it is a very similar boat. You probably need double the time since you are from Anacortes. This boat is very capable to go to Desolation Sound, but of course it will use a lot of gas. Desolation Sound is a boater paradise, you must love it. Since you will travel along the coastline, single engine is fine. I am not sure about the traffic from Anacortes to Vancouver, but lots of boat traffic from Vancouver to Desolation Sound. I guess you have VHF radio and C-Tow in case you need help. Of course check the weather before you go.
