Obviously, you can't use upturned pipes that blow the hot exhaust right on your bags! If you have pipes that are under the bags, even if the mufflers touch, they won't burn. My pipes are stock except for stock-looking mufflers and I've run Willie and Max bags and one set of cheap leather bags for over 200,000 miles with no problem.

Thanks for the great video. I'm curious on why did you switch to a chain drive?
@fxrn7024 ай бұрын
You're welcome. ...Chains are superior to belts. Harley uses belts to cut corners on money in production. I personally prefer them.

Damn man, would you say its the bags or the exhaust or just bad luck that caused this to happen? Ive been looking at getting some bags to go on my '93 FXR and i have a similar 2:1 set up, this kind of made me think a little bit :P
@gorillagospelmotorcycleclub6 ай бұрын
It was a combo of exhaust, bags too close to pipe, and and oil on brakes.

The intro wasn’t long enough and the music wasn’t loud enough. Besides that excellent tip. I’m in the middle of doing this right now

I don't see any reason to remove the clutch, it should be ok without that. But it's nice you changed the stator, most people would prolly just shift the problem to a new owner. Not Me though. These bikes are old, and need the up-graded 32amp stator. They get worn-out after 35 years. Nice job.

Please understand that I would never dis anyone's work but - If you don't have the original rubber mount to this T-header for the muffler part section, it will break your pipe. I've looked at your video several times and I didn't see that. Yes, very nice welding and idea but, the motor moves as you know, but the muffler part does not now. This will most likely break your beautiful T-header over time brother. Hope that doesn't happen to you.

How Fortunate.....Arizona nice area bud. Check out my youtube channel as well. I made my own Thunderheader bracket too as the one they give you originally is junk. Wild man RG3 Talk soon

Get rid of the music. Not enough information on how you removed the left side bolts.

I'll do one better for you. You have a dry sump system with oil tank. When u remove filter, over fill your oil tank till its full, start bike run it until the oil comes out clean. Put filter check oil and go. Make shure while your flushing the oil to keep putting oil in tank if u need to. A dry sump system does not get all the oil out. Nice video!!!!!

@@fxrn702 how do you change the primary and transmission? Will you be able to drop a video like that too? Obviously when you have time.
@fxrn702 Жыл бұрын
@@franciscofallon OK I can do that. It's even easier to do the other two. Primary has the drain plug right at the bottom of the primary derby cover. Drain it, put the plug back in, and take the derby cover off. Then pour in less than a quart. Stop when the bottom of the clutch has oil touching it, barely. Less than a quarter of an inch of oil on the bottom of the clutch discs. You can see it easily with the cover off. Then, bolt back on the derby cover tightening the bolts in a star pattern - change the gasket if it looks worn or needs it, and you're done. You can use 20/50 oil, ATF or whatever you think is best. These days I'm using 20/50 for engine - and also for primary.

Hey brother, good tip thanks. If I can make a suggestion to you. When your explaining tips, your background music volume is a little loud, which makes your voice hard to hear. But keep up your suggestions. Have a good day sir.

@fxrn7022 жыл бұрын
Yes, I had to change tanks as the one that was on it was rusted out - the previous owner had covered rust with Kream and the inside was destroyed and causing me a headache. So I went with all black and a new tank.
