Hey Stephen, nice video series. The Route Verte tends to take a meandering route for sure - with an emphasis on views and quiet roads. I’ve ridden both Rte 132 to Parc du Bic as well as the Route Verte in the same area and the Route Verte is definitely a nicer bike ride. But longer and hillier. Ride safe.

Nice setup. I've also lost items that I didn't secure well enough, so now everything goes inside the panniers or other bags. Thanks for the inspiration to get out there brother.

I stumbled on to your site by accident. I started watching and could not stop, so I watched you entire trip in one shot. I guess you could say I binged. I am retiring next spring and I hope to do something similar, although not as long and on my e-bike. Is that cheating? 🙂 Because of my age, I had doubts. But now that I saw you, you inspired me to go ahead and do it. Thanks for the adventure! Merci.

I second @BettyWoo's comment. Thanks for sharing your trip. I don't remember Rimouski from when I drove from Los Angeles to Vancouver to St. John's, Newfoundland, to Washington D.C. and home to Whittier, California. We had our only car trouble in Gaspe - a flat tire on the gravel road. I learned about biting political satire from Canadian newspapers during those Watergate days. Yesterday was the 50th anniversary of President Nixon's resignation. They took down the ""Hometown of Richard M. Nixon" signs right away. Thanks for the memories...

I loved the lack of razzamatazz shots and whizzbang postproduction effects of your vlog for the trip (and, blessed be, no background music clogging things up). Just a guy on a bike making his way and making some observations. Kind of hoping there's a final train-home-car-trip-pick-up-home-football game video. But, if not, tant pis. See you next trip! Greetings from Vancouver.

Why are you not carrying spares? changing a cable is as easy as falling off a log
@StephenDownesАй бұрын
For you it is. For me, not so much.
@StephenDownesАй бұрын
(But my backup plan if I couldn't get a repair was to buy a spare cable (and possibly a tool) and learn through KZbin how to changer a cable - I haven't broken a cable before but clearly changing them is a skill I need to learn)

I've having a great time watching your trip in 'real' time'. Got my google maps up and following along your merry way. Periodically I pop in the name of a town/hamlet in your travel area and learn about the area some more. You do the work, I'll just pull up webpages 😆 The humidity and heat would wilt me like a forgotten bouquet in the back of a hot car, though. Greetings from Vancouver!

Look for an Ur-Sack to store your food. They can’t bite through it.
@StephenDownesАй бұрын
I actually have an Ur-Sack at home and can recommend it, I just wasn't worried about wildlife on this tour (the decision to visit the parks wasn't made until after I had left).

One last question. Anticosti Ecotours says on they FAQ page: Q. :Are there a lot of bugs and mosquitos on the island? A. : No. Anticosti is very different from most northern regions and has hardly any bugs. What's the deal? One of your segments said the black flies were eating you alive. Generally speaking how are the mosquitos and black flies? Thanks man, you rock. Good luck with the rest of this big adventure of life.

Thanks for this great video. You are brave. You must have felt such a sense of accomplishment. Congratulations. Did you get to at least cool your feet in the crystal clear sparkling water? What birds of prey did you see? Loved your factoid on the Poplar.Tree too. I may go next year but I'll need my car or to go with the Sepaq the outfitters.

I enjoyed your video sans your choice in food. Why wasn't there more footage of Brie De la Tour. You went to so much effort to get there and is such a beautiful place I was just wondering if you ran into a problem? I'd hoped to see the cliffs and am curious if you actually walked along them looking up to see any fossil? Thanks for posting this. It's very informative. Where to next?

This is a great video of seeing how users interact with installing their software and knowing what can be improved. 19:21 did show the default password, but in the moment it's easy to glance over it and should have just been in the info screen. Also, not sure how public your address, but you may need to take caution logging into the Client Area of your hosting provider next, as your account information was shown in the homescreen.
