the commentaries of people who are not capable to make the difference between traditionnal form and what judges are looking for in competition are boring. it was a good kanku sho for competition.

Screaming the kata name incomprehensibly is one of my favourite things about the play fighting in pyjamas people.

This is for the Philippine audience (myself included) rooting for Philippine competitors: refrain from either cheering/clapping until the kata is done. Just basic common courtesy. You can clap and/or cheer before the performer announces the name of the kata. You can clap and/or cheer after the kata being performed is fully done.
@alvinkyo
@alvinkyo 26 күн бұрын
yes, its common courtesy to do that but the general audience has made this a sport. In Japan the crowds always remain full silence before the performers do their kata and wait till they finish the kata. It gives the performer respect and a calm state of mind

Typical WKF karate competition, less technique, more drama

@@PhantomVIIP Bro, you don't have to be 8th Dan to see the over-the-top drama and poor execution. Speed, speed... the movements are not clear, the gaps are in other places. Just compare with the non-WKF performance.

@@zxz8952 Lol) Dude, WKF does weird long pauses in kata (which are made up), it ruins technique and rhythm. Making movements quickly, but not even getting into a stance and not completing the blow/block is terrible). Look at Japan and Okinawa.

@@zxz8952 I've been training for 8 years. Shotokan, 1st dan. I teach children) But I look at karate as a whole, and don’t limit myself to just Shotokan. I also practice Matayoshi Kobudo. Draw a line between sports performance of kata and non-sports performance. These have long become different things.
