These talented athletes shoot themselves in their foot. I worked hard at 5'10 but knew that I wasn't going to have a career in this game. So I focused on my education.

Sounds like he realizes now that his attitude towards the game really dragged down his game, rightly or wrongly.

I heard about this a while ago and couldn't find it to watch in Germany. Many childhood memories. Thank you! Only worse owner (as a Sens fan from Day 1) was that rat Melnyk. What's with the weird voice overs on the original footage from the 1970s though? A rights issue, I assume? A bit like watching Slapshot on VHS in Europe, with the bogus soundtrack.

As a Bruins fan, watching you guys crush the arrogant Canucks and their psycho fanbase puts a smile on my face for sure! Congrats to that team. I'm glad that the next cup winners directly after my Bruins were also a group of players that overcame the odds after a very long cup drought. Sucks to see you get knocked out this year by the Edmonton Connor McDavid's.

Canadian markets are atrocious
@remytt4Күн бұрын
It's not the Market the problem... We're losing our reputation of National Sport... The development in America and outside are getting so much better while we're stagnant... The expectations and the medias are the final nails in the coffin.

Great documentary. It offers lots of insight into Alex's hockey life but for me it was a beautiful reminder of how important it is not to judge people. We never know the shoes a person walks. A dark side to early success is the pressure, expectation and critic that follows it. Congratulations to Alex for working through all this and for achieving happiness!
@gastondeveaux3783Күн бұрын
100% agree. He was 18 and the press was all over him. He ended up focusing on what really mattered to him. He enjoyed life in Switzerland, has a gorgeous wife, children, and spends time with them. At the NHL's highest levels, you sacrifice a lot of that. I'm happy he found peace.

@@gastondeveaux3783 the gift a beautiful family is worth much more than any NHL contract. It’s a great story.

1:15:46 for a rare one, a cool leaping check attempt from Kane that starts a scrum. as someone who mostly watches these old old Hawks games to mine for lost Kane highlights (mostly passes, dekes etc) that is a fun find.

Has nothing to do with Gary Bettman or the American Owners. The Canadian Cities NHL Teams the last 30 years are ran like Harold Ballard's Era Toronto Maple Leafs and that is exactly why no Canadian City Team has won the Stanley Cup after 1993.

The current year Canadian NHL teams are modelled after Ballard's Leafs, (Mark Chipman of the Jets even admitted to this,) because they don't have to win to draw. In fact Canadian teams make more money off of losers than winners which is why you see a 31 year drought nationwide. At least Harold had a sense of humor unlike the owners you see now.
