Interesting build! Beautiful wood. The PC components right behind the screen, that's odd, unsightly, and will catch dust, no? And the fan noise is right there in front of you. Wouldn't it make more sense to include the components in 1/2 drawers of the cabinets? and you dont show how you attach the heavy desk to the wall, which is also very unusual. The desk has no feet, right?
@PharaohsCave11 күн бұрын
thanks for the comment :) regarding the pc components, an open pc built is not unusual and catches not more dust than a pc case on the floor. The noise is not really an issue since i have really silent components and the open air built makes the fans go easy. I thought of building the pc components somewhere but the drawers were much needed for all my stuff, the wall mount is quite simple in the video at the end you see me drill holes and plug in some dowels for the wall i even mentioned that i was suprised how easy the drill bit went in like butter: min 16:24. I certainly could have explained that in more detail the video would have been 40 min hope you understand

Was not expecting mounting the desk to the wall. Looks great and love how the computer is mounted behind the monitor.

How much could you say the cost compares? Products, labor, etc. ☺️
@PharaohsCave3 ай бұрын
great question maria, in my case it was totally worth it for several reasons: 1. I have a workshop and all the necessary tools 2. I love doing it 3. the time I spent would have been spent anyway in the workshop :) So the price was maybe 15-20 percent of the price I saw on etsy or elsewhere. (I don’t remember exactly but I think I paid for the plywood 30ish € and that for both parts ;) compared to the one on etsy thats almost nothing. If you have a hardware store nearby that cuts the plywood according to my plans you should be good with a cheap jigsaw and a cordless drill, some sandpaper and a varnish or lacquer or oil if you prefer that :) oh yes woodglue and some clamps if you don’t want to use screws :)

It’s great to see you taking on more traditional wood working joints and expanding your skill set. I began watching your channel with your roubo workbench build. How is it holding up? Are you still happy with it?
@PharaohsCave4 ай бұрын
Happy to hear that you are watching since then :) and the roubo workbench has not let me down on any project since. There is really nothing to complain abou other than the weight if you wanna move it around in the workshop (i got casters but still heavy as hell) I've planed the top and added a few more coats of finnish once since i build it. And i think this bench is going to outlive me by a decade ;)

i think the board alone was 80-100€ +the working hours. if you got the tools go for it but if not i’m not so sure if it’s worth it if you are on a budget tbh

Love it! I'm building my own mini workbench with a moxon vise as well right now actually. So good timing on the video, haha! I do have a question, though not about the bench. I'm curious about your drill press, or drill holding jig, or whatever you want to call it. I see it moves on two axes, and it seems super convenient with such a small foot print. Did you build it yourself? If so, any chance we might get a build video someday?
@PharaohsCave8 ай бұрын
:) thanks for your comment retarding the drill press: its called wabeco i bought it and its a german brand Might be the best drill stand #diy #woodworking #shorts #workshop #wabeco kzbin.infoLS4wMse5S-o?feature=share
