Virkelig god video Michael. Dejligt spillet! Nu må jeg hellere få lært at spille på sådan en mundharmonika.

If a master can play a cheap one,, almost at 80-90 % of how could be played on a expensive one, then the answer is simple....The practice, the dedication, talent and learning are the most valuable skills, after that, the tool...

I completely agree - and there are good arguments for buying a high quality instrument. The playing and handling comfort, ease and stability of responsiveness, the durability of the instrument, the sound character given by the building materials. And the higly skilled player may actually be restrained by the instruments performing capabilities. Ordinary listeners may not sense a difference but the player and the trained ear will.

Hello, I am a total beginner and although the advice is “start with a diatonic” I bit the bullet and bought a Suzuki SCX-48 because I’m not into blues and prefer to learn songs/ballads, as you can imagine I’m struggling with the Chromatic as it is totally new to me, my question if I may is “what method do you use to play the harmonica”? Puckering or Lip blocking? At the moment I can’t seem to get clean note’s especially from holes 2/3… also can you advise on ‘breath’..? ie do you blow/draw softly to obtain the sound? or much harder? Thanks for your time, Andrew

First I gratulate you on you choice of the chromatic harmonica - I started on a diatonic around age 12 (Hohner Echo Luxe, a tremolo harmonica) - and I wish i had started with the chromatic!!! I have played on and off over the years - it's only the last 10 years I have been more serious about it and played in different keys. I practically breathe through the harmonica and I use a kind of tounge blocking but i don't recomend any particular method - you should practice different methodt and find what works best for you - and find your own sound. There is a lot of beginners lessons on KZbin - and again: choose what works for you :-)

I'm sorry you find this piece so terrible - if it's my interpretation in particular you actually never have to listen to it again. If it's the melody in general I wonder why you tell me - because there's nothing I can do about it 😳 Have a good life! ❤

@Stratocaster893

It’s in the key of c. So hole number 1 is C on a blow, D on a draw. Hole number 2 is E blow, F draw. Hole number 3 is G blow A draw. Hole number 4 is C blow and B is the draw. To get the sharps and flats you push in the slide that raises everything up by a semitone. And the pattern repeats all the way up the instrument from holes 5 to 8, 9 to 12, 13 to 16.
