⭐️ Funny Casual Greek and Slang ⭐️ Θα το κάνεις γαργάρα! = you’re going to agree to something whether you like it or not! The word γαργάρα comes from the word γαργαρίζω. It’s a word mimicking the sound of the running water. Γαργάρα however is the gurgling. So let’s say that θα το κάνεις γαργάρα literally means you’re are going to gurgle it (and then swallow it) as in “agree”. ⭐️ Funny Casual Greek and Slang ⭐️ Μπας και… = Just in case… Μπας comes from the Ancient Greek words μην πας. Πας meaning anyone. Μήν has a negative sense but it was also used in a preventive manner. So μην and πας joined up and turned into μπας, same as μήπως which means perhaps. So μπας is also related meaning wise to if. ⭐️ Funny Casual Greek and Slang ⭐️ Τι θα γίνει με την πάρτη σου: what are we going to do with you? It is an expression of exasperation. But it can also be used in a humorous way to tease someone. Τι θα γίνει means what is it going to be like/ what’s going to happen. Η πάρτη is a slang word for myself, yourself, themselves etc depended on the personal pronoun that is following. Η πάρτη σου is yourself for example. It comes from the Italian word parte which means self or side. ⭐️ Funny Casual Greek and Slang ⭐️ Σκούρα τα πράματα = it doesn’t look good! Σκούρος -α -ο means dark for colour and shades. Τα πράματα is the word πράγματα which means things but in a more slang/simplified version. We are basically saying that things look dark. ⭐️ Funny Casual Greek and Slang ⭐️ 📌 «πολύ στημένος είσαι ρε αδελφέ!» Στημένος is an adjective which literally means fixed on something and ρε αδελφέ means you bro(ther). 📌 «χαλάρωσε λίγο!» Χαλάρωσε is the imperative of the verb χαλαρώνω which means to relax or to chill out. ⭐️ Funny Casual Greek and Slang ⭐️ 📌 «πανάθεμά σε!» Πανάθεμά comes from the word που as an exclamation here and ανάθεμα which means curse. Σε is the abbreviation of εσένα which’s means you. So we’re practically staying “curse you!” 📌 «Να σε βράσω!» Να is the particle that we use for the imperative form when we want to give an order or to make a suggestion. Βράσω is the verb βράζω in the imperative form, which means to boil. So we’re practically saying here. ‘I will boil you’ but it used as a curse and/or a threat. ⭐️ Funny Casual Greek and Slang ⭐️ 📌 «τι ζόρι τραβάς ρε!» Τι means “what”. Ζόρι is a slang word for “struggle” «Τραβάς» means “you pull”. Τραβάω means “to pull”. In Greek Slang struggling is something that is being pulled. So when we have a problem we’re pulling struggles (weird) 📌 «άντε από ‘κει πέρα» Άντε means let’s or go as a command. Από means from. ‘Κει is the abbreviation of the word «εκεί» which means “there” and «πέρα» means “down there” or “over there”. So in Greek slang instead of “get lost” we say “go down there!” 📌 «κόφ’το!» Κοφ’ is the abbreviation of κόψε, which means “cut!” Το means it. In spoken language we tend to change the consonants in order to facilitate the flow of the word or phrase. So ψ became φ in the imperative form so instead of “drop it” in Greek we say it “cut it!” If you want to support my work use these links: www.patreon.com/learngreekviatalking www.paypal.me/kavvadiak I would be extremely grateful! ⭐️ Funny Casual Greek and Slang ⭐️ 📌 «Βρε μπελά που βρήκαμε με δαύτον!» It is an expression that we use whenever someone is insisting and troublesome. The word μπελά comes from Arabic and it means exactly that, a worry, a nuisance aka a headache. Δαύτον is a medieval word for the word “him” as an indicative pronoun. Βρήκαμε means we found. It is the past tense of the verb βρίσκω which means to find. This expression is basically saying: oh, what a nuisance we got/found from him! It’s a bad translation but it’s for the sake of getting to know the meaning of each word.
