thankssss but i didnt understand how when he said the energy transferred it means the change of total energy of the system???
@ibchemistryandphysics20 күн бұрын
System energy always means constant. Just the change in energy we need to calculate.

i am confused as to why the number of moles is multiplied by 1000?
@ibchemistryandphysics2 ай бұрын
According to question, we have to calculate the answer in the units Kj/mol, so to convert the joules into kilojoules, we have divided the resulting expression by 1000

hi , how will I do this in paper 1 without a calculator ?

To make the videos short and concise, I have used calculator here. But you can do the calculations at your own in your exam, these are simple calculations.

Hi I have a question, when the question asks you to write an equation, how do you know the state for the reactants and products? For example P4+6cl2--> 4Pcl3

Hi! Thank you so much for your explanation, but may I ask why the smaller peak at m/z = 80 is not taken into consideration?
@ibchemistryandphysics4 ай бұрын
Yes, because the smaller peaks around 80 are for Br atoms not for molecule but here in the question we have to calculate the molecular mass of bromine molecule

The. Oxidation state of s in s4o62- is +2.5. How do you reconcile that in the half equation ultimately there are 2 electrons being lost? The oxidation state of s in s2o32- is +2 and that of s4o62- is +2.5 so the electrons being lost, as stated in the problem are 2 and they are not even close to what logically would be deduced (half an electron would be logical). What am I missing? Here you show your answer choice by exclusion… but I want to know why is it definitively 2 electrons being lost in the oxidation half equation.
@ibchemistryandphysics6 ай бұрын
Half electron would not be logical because there is 2S2O3^2- species which actually loosing 2 electrons not S atom so we will consider oxidation state of all 4 S atoms and if we sum up the oxidation state of 4 S atoms of 2S2O3^2- species then it will be 4(2)=8 and of S4O6^2- it will be 4(2.5)=10, so two electrons will be lost in the reaction but oxidation state can not be fractional as I have assumed in the video that there are 4 S atoms in S4O6^2- species out of which if two S atoms have +2 O.S. and two have +3 O.S. then overall 2 electrons will be lost.
