Beautiful! Beautiful work! 9:12 - Do you take your own photos for reference? The crow on your monitor looks very close and detailed. I'm an artist, as well, but I paint fine art on silk. How do you paint the iridescence? Do you use iridescent paints? Because I use dyes, I don't have iridescent choices. So I must try different ways to paint what looks like iridescence on my ducks. Thanks! God bless!
@JasonLucioArtАй бұрын
@@denisestover2416 Thank you. I do try and take some of my own reference photos but that one is not mine. It is a good picture though! For the iridescence I use iridescent powders that I add to the paint. That way I can control how much there is.
@denisestover2416Ай бұрын
@JasonLucioArt Hi! Thanks for replying. In reference to the iridescence, I have mica powders but I never thought of adding them to my dyes. Once my silk is painted I have to steam set the dyes to the silk. Adding the iridescence is a good idea! Would you mind if I tried it. Thank you for the help!

Stunning attention to detail! If i may ask: Who generally purchases your works? Private collectors or galleries, museums or wildlife exhibitions? I'm an intermediate sculptor and furniture maker and want to study product design or something similar. I'd like to combine furniture and sculpting. So I'm curious about streams of income and how people build a career. Did you study art/etc. or are you self-taught? I'd greatly appreciate any advice! Thank you and best wishes!
@JasonLucioArt2 ай бұрын
Most of my work goes to private collectors but I do have some that are in museums. I am self taught and have been doing this for over 30 years(started young). I would say make what interests you and get your work out there where people can see it. The internet is great for the exposure but being out talking with people where they can see your work and get to know you as the artist is important.
@LZP1232 ай бұрын
@@JasonLucioArt thank you for your advice and taking the time! I like the part about making something interesting to me. I'm sure it keeps you motivated and lets you create better art. The part about showing my work to others I still have to learn though. Knowing the right places and people and not being shy to present your work. Thanks again and have a great day!

Really nice work! First time I've seen one of your videos. Have you ever tried automotive paint for feather irredecence? They make pearl additives that shift from one color to another in one application.
@JasonLucioArt2 ай бұрын
No, I haven't tried them but have wondered how well they would work. I should give them a try. Thank you for the comment and for watching.
@Broody582 ай бұрын
@@JasonLucioArt they have plastic models with the pearl effects displayed so you can see what you need. Tell them what you need the paint for & they'll sell you a few "touch up" ounces in a small bottle. You'll need thinner & probly harder also, depending on the kind of paint. Works through an airbrush just fine. P.s. the solid colors are very opaque! I used them straight to pinstripe custom vehicles.

What do you use to seal the bird before you prime it ,is it thinned with a solvent?
@JasonLucioArt2 ай бұрын
I seal them with a semi gloss clear lacquer. Usually Deft or Watco brand. Sometimes I will cut the first coat by 25% with lacquer thinner if the detail is very fine.
