It’s fine. It’s an 80 proof bourbon. Bourbon doesn’t hold up as well as scotch at low proofs. Their cask strength is solid though. Just an MGP at full proof, so you know what you’re getting.

You can “chop up” the egg white with a knife to help it separate. Taste the combined ingredients before the second shake to check it’s balanced. Shake way harder than you did, think about moving the ice from one end of the tin to the other nice and quickly. When adding ice, add one large cube (this shifts everything around inside the shaker and chills the liquid) and several smaller cubes which chill and provide vital dilution. Water from the ice is the key to every good cocktail. Then add a good maraschino cherry and perhaps a spray of bitters.

You are right, it is a sales tactic but what it's used for is to create urgency. To hit the hot button of the "FOMO" (Fear of Missing Out) but also presenting an opportunity. It can be used maliciously but also for the benefit of the customer. All investing requires a certain amount of risk. Their job is to get people off the fence and grabbing the opportunity. Some people need a push. It can be exciting but also stressful to deal with because you don't know the integrity of the salesperson.

Try either - shaking with a single ice cube and then re-shaking with more ice to give a "wet N dry shake" to improve foam, dont double strain as its not necessary and shaking with the spring from your hawthorn strainer in the boston tin may increase foam aswell. Hope this helps

Bunnahabhain 12 I'm pretty sure that numbers 2, 3, and 4 can change places on any given night depending on how I feel and if I had just finished brushing my teeth prior to drinking. You gave me some really cool recommendations man! I totally appreciate it.🙏 I can't believe I wasted a lot of money on these watered down, 40% chill filtered, blended scotch whiskies. I'll name everything I have right here in front of me: I have John Walker XR 21, Royal Salute 21, Johnnie Walker 18, Johnnie Walker Blue Label, Hennessy XO, Naked Malt, Monkey Shoulder, Aber Falls, Teeling Small batch 43% ABV, Dewar's 12, The Sexton Irish single malt, Johnnie Walker Double Black, Johnnie Walker Green label, Hennessy VS, The Singleton 12 single malt, Jim Beam white label, Evan Williams 43%, Evan Williams 50%, Samuel Gelston's Irish single malt, and Martell VSOP.

The Classic Laddie has a bold, strong, flavorful taste. This is the best single malt Scotch I've ever bought in my life so far. Drinking this even reminds me close to the Hennessy XO. But of course, the Hennessy XO is an extra old cognac and The Classic Laddie is a single malt Scotch with a 50% ABV. It has a spicy, rich, and fruity flavorful taste for me. Excellent bottle! I'd say it's definitely worth the price! Thank you again for this recommendation. I'm going to open the bottle of Wee Beastie now.

OK, you said, at that price point, there are better whiskies out there. You can't just bash this whisky and say there are better whiskies out there without even mentioning those 'better' whiskies. Your statement is a bit vague if you don't mention those 'better' whiskies that you're referring to.

Weller SR is ridiculously overpriced right now partly due to Buffalo Trace’s supply issues. In a few years they’ll be able to put out stuff from their new rickhouses and hopefully normalize prices. If they weren’t owned by Sazerac they’d be in a dangerous place financially.

@@whiskyamateur I think it’s more down to years of poor inventory management. They didn’t hire an inventory manager until 2013, when they realized they could be in danger of a shortage.

I just got a Kings County Single Barrel at 128.8 proof. I got an almost BBQ sauce on the nose. It mellowed and sweetened a little when I let it breathe and I got more burnt sugar vanilla notes. It didn’t drink hot at all and had dark fruit flavors too. I haven’t tasted anything quite like it. Very interesting. Will I buy it again? The jury’s still out.

Oh man those tasting notes sound lovely!! I really like all the bourbon whisky that their producing. If you get a chance to visit their distillery you'll see how small scale it is but they produce awesome bourbon for a small producer

Weller SR is $25 on the shelf in Los Angeles, if you can find it. Wild Turkey RB $60 on the shelf. Weller SR isn’t worth hunting for or pay high prices in the secondary market.

Rare Breed can be found for about £55-60 and weller special reserve is DIFFICULT to find but RRP SHOULD BE £50 BUT in reality will cost you £100

Haha. Springbank 10…… novices need not apply. It’s too complex for an inexperienced palate to deconstruct. Trust me, drink whisky long enough and you will come to learn Springbank 10 is an absolute masterpiece. Best of the best. 😂

I'm not the biggest fan of it personally, I feel like the abv it's bottled at doesn't quite do it justice. I really enjoy the 15, but again, when you do a lineup of Cask Strength and come back to it, it ends up feeling too watered down
