14 oct 2024: I am not 73 years old, (-30y), and this is the first time I have heard a Bloch work ever. I didn't sleep last night. I am miserable a little. But this piece is "hypnotized me", washed my brain, feel better. Amazing composition and performance!!!!!! ßßß&&&ßßß&&&ßßß&&&ßßß&&&ßßß&&&ßßß&&&ßßß&&&ßßß&&&ßßß&&&ßßß&&&ßßß&&&ßßß

Pablo Casal's interpretation is full of humour, nostalgia and intimacy- a highly masterful partnership and beautiful cooperation with the pianist.

Incredible performance. A heart felt work. Bloch was inspired when wrote this. Issac Stern is incredible. I had the Fortune of seeing Mr. Stern at Carnegie Hall in the 1980s. I'll never forget it.

If the third movement doesn't make you cry, someone should check that you're still breathing. I recall that this and the affetuoso 'affect' the protagonist in Meg J Parry's novel Here I Go Again, though the first book, Roses of Lace, is better.

De ce timbrul sunetelor la Dinu sunt complet altfel? Are tehnica bună care folosește gravitația, fără efort, fără împingeri.. Abia așteptăm să l revedem la Înviere... De ce a murit doar la 33 de ani? A săvârșit o greșeală gravă: s a căsătorit cu o femeie măritată, Madeleine Cantacuzino

If only Bach could sit on AGT and tell the entire modern would-be "music" industry where to go.

Hindemith, like Bach, was capable of writing workaday music that is professional and listenable, but here he is truly inspired, as he had also been in his previous violin concerto. And no one does it like King David!

A very fine composer indeed, and alas, not performed or recorded as much as he could be. Thanks for sharing this.

Did late (RIP) Stefi play this, or was it put into her drawer and found after her Death? 48 years passed away according to the book. Mr.Stern played it 50 years after her death. (The first part Til 10:25 (about)t is the same as the two portraits (the first portrait only))

I read that when the Hebrew society that wanted him to write this came to him, he originally refused, because he said he only used original themes. Fortunately for us, the themes were so catchy that Sergei did write this overture, much like when Beethoven wrote the Diabelli Variations.

the larghetto sounds so modern and beautiful. i played through it last night for the first time and couldn’t believe it was written in 1749.

One of the worst recordings of the Poulenc for me. The piano is hardly heard, which wouldn't had pleased Poulenc. The violin playing is plane, lacks imagination. Either forte or mezzoforte. Same vibrato and same sound color all the time. No delicacy in pp at all. And tempos are boring and conservative. Rest is ok.
