Well I'm also a qualified mechanic, and this video is exactly now NOT to do a quality valve job (what, don't even take the spark plugs out???) The valves need to be properly refaced to remove that pitting. The seats accurately resurfaced, and if done with quality equipment no lapping will be necessary. Put that much 'bearing blue' on a valve to check the valve seating and you should expect a 100% fit 100% of the time. The correct method is the faintest light smear on the valve, giving it a small twist in the seat to transfer the blue on any contact points. The key word is a very THIN smear.

Awesome video. The intermittent bad one is exactly what my cam and crank sensors are doing. As it reaches temp it dies randomly

Do NOT do this...anyone who tells you do grind the seat or valve with a drill, tell em to shut the tool box and walk away, Get a frigging valve job, do it once do it right. The end Troll away everyone. lol

Where are you finding suction cups that stick? I bought new, genuine "made in China" rubbers and finally had to rotate the valves with my fingers. (they didn't need lapping anyway, just a "feel good" exercise)

The reason you hand lapping stick is crap , is because of the diameter , slim it right down in a lathe to a concave shape, it's best to do top and throat cuts to reduce seat width and help the valve cut carbon .

It would have been better if the grinding was clockwise as well as anticlockwise, intermittently.

My multimeter is auto ranged. If i hold it to M ohms i get not reading. In auto i get about 1 K ohms. Is that an indicator of the sensor being bad?

Test may show if a sensor is dead, but still need an oscilloscope to determine if signal is clean or noisy garbage. Air gap tolerance is far too sensitive to replicate on a bench.

When welding exhaust s and things like that is Tig and mig don't like rust or oil ,dirt etc even if you clean it back the steel can still be ingrained with crap that's where stick welding stands out above the other 2 it will produce good welds even with dirty steel that's why it's king out on work sites

I think they call that Texas Tig welding using another rod as a heat sink works well.personally for me turn down the amps down a bit probably like 45 ,50 amps tilt it up a bit weld it up nice and quiet with 2.5 ,6013

You watch a video like this in which this guy meticulously laps the valve and checks it to see if he's in spec. Then you read a comment from an engine builder who with his 30 years of experience confesses he's never lapped a new valve and never had a problem, Lol. Not saying you should or should not that's entirely up to you and your peace of mind but hey if you are wondering if its been done that answer is a yes.

It's called a valve guide driver. He's using a manual one. You can also get them for pneumatic hammers. Needs to be the same diameter as your inner valve guide diameter.

Now how about a hall effect sensor without a low reference? I have a dual hall-effect (two sensors with a shared magnet) which is a four wire. It does not have a 5v reference. How can I bench test this sensor?
