You’re absolutely correct. Shortening is modified vegetable oil. I wouldn’t eat it or put it where any of my livestock could eat it.

3 pounds pork 2 pounds beef 12 ounces cheddar cheese 2 tlbs salt 2 tlbs sugar ( I used honey) 2 tsp onion powder 2 tsp garlic 1 tsp pepper 1/2 tsp coriander 1/2 tsp marjoram 1/2 tsp caraway seed Freeze after cutting up and adding spices, you can wait til 1st grinding to add spices

More of a tredal hammer? ...not sure spelling on that... Maybe be better if you change it to large chunk of metal and do it straight up and down be less hits but more metal moving per hit. But good job non the less.

Temp doesn't get high enough in smoker part to release any zinc fumes , the smoke carbon will also cover the metal, I also built hot fire and cooked metal before adding any meat

@@CallahanHomestead-n-Bees Just one thought. The force of the blow on this one was very small. Usually such hammers work the opposite way - hammer is lifted by some kind of spring. Strong just enough to lift that hammer up. And the blow force is applied with foot. This way you can greatly increase the blow force. I looked at videos of it ,seems you need a motor to run it,were as mine is human powered ,so could be used anywhere
