With how much the sims 4 costs these days? They're probably just trying to steal your origin login. Most simmers probably have more cash sunk into TS4 at this point than actively sittitng in their bank account and they probably want to sell the account access for profit.

I always go to where the modders directly have their mods, it's often their patreon or their own site, when it's major modders like Twisted Mexi, it would be handy if a modder could analyze the file on a spare laptop with no personal information on it or in a virtual system to see what the file does, pyc is a python source file, it is created automatically when a python source module is imported during an execution for the first time, my guess is you would need a python sdk to see what's in the file, since Sims 4 can run python files, it would probably be able to run that file whatever it might be.

cant get the 'host a social event' on week 6 to register. Ive hosted 3 gold events (and I hate doing the host events) and its not registering at all

I read the forum post about it on there and it's baffling how they could just lock your account after a new login this whole time and yet waited until someone hacked into accounts to distribute malware. Like they could have prevented this but didn't bother until it was too late for so many people.

okay so i looked and saw no files that might have the Malware but I do belive I have downloaded things from modthesims before everyone found out and warned everyone about modthesims but none of the malware files were in my folders and now I am still worried this stuff is so scressfull and I know nothing about computers i just know how to mod my game so I wouldn't know how to check or even know how to start if I do find anything

Are we sure it was even a "hack" or are modders putting tracking malware in their mods again? Odd that Twisted Mexi keeps being involved in these tracker scandals.

I removed my mods folder a couple of months ago simply bc I couldn't be bothered to keep up with the constant updates lol. Honestly, I may just delete the entire folder aside from a few essentials & start from scratch. My laptop will probably thank me 😅 Thanks to Pixelade & commenters for bringing mod guard to my attention. I've never used it before, so I'll definitely be checking that out!

Be VERY weary. Data scrapers are often the source of identity theft. Identity theft is often the sole purpose of hose malware.

This is why I don't download from a 3rd party site - if I can't get a mod from a creators site then it doesn't get downloaded; the only acception to this rule is Sims Resource & that's only for very limited CC.

Just want to correct something here: The Gurus don't make those decisions. They're basically just the mouthpiece. The decisions are made by the developers and higher ups at EA.

Thank goodness I haven't downloaded anything from ModTheSims in months. I've already had to deal with far too many data breaches over the years. I'm so sick of this sh×t. Some people suck 😢

I still can't reincarnate my Sim 😢 I've disabled all mods, used no cheats on this Sim, even tried other households, but reincarnation still doesn't work! It just makes my Sim unplayable until he disappears without a trace. If I save and exit, then reload. His entire household no longer exists, even if another living adult Sim was there
