Looks cool !! I would add more wood and rocks to the wall . Like the caves that's neat and the fish will love them too . Great job thanks for showing us how to do it .👍🍀☘️🐠🌿🍀🍃🐟🌱🐠🌱

What if the water drips or splashes . Wont that leave hard water stains trapped inbetween the two ? Do you think painting is better .🤔🖤🤍💙🌱🌿🐌🐡☘️🐠🍀

Don't know if you've already done one, but a Video about Plants for brackish Water would be nice

Two you've missed ... [1] Iodotropheus sprengerae. This is the least aggressive of the Mbuna. This is possibly THE ideal beginner's Mbuna. [2] Anomalochromis thomasi. A West African Cichlid that is possibly THE candidate for the title of "pacifist Cichlid". These will go beautifully in a planted 40 gallon, and will live compatibly with more conventional community fish into the bargain. If you want a truly impressive West African biotope aquarium, team this Cichlid up with Neolebias ansorgei in a planted aquarium with Cryptocorynes and low light leafy plants from the same habitat. You can also team them up with a couple of the smaller and less aggressive West African Killifishes if you so wish.

Great Video 👍🏻 Would like to get Mudskippers someday. Didn't know that all of them are wild caught. Not sure how to think about it. If I'll get them, I'll probably try to get the least endangered one. Also someone needs to make the first Step anyways to start a captive bred Population. Hopefully someone will figure it out within the next few Years 😊 Edit: apparently they are all Least Concern besides a few Species of which we don't have enough Data. At least according to Fishbase

I have little to no experience owning fish and yesterday my mom brought home two electric cichlids because the aquarium at her workplace broke. Since it was not planned for us to get fish I dont even own the basics. Basically im looking for low a budget aquarium setup to begin with and advice regarding pH and water conditions. Actually this morning one of them died propably because of the shock or change in water??

Whatever you do just know your fans support you and your decisions. I love my fish but that because I only have 2 tanks to keep with maybe a 3rd on the way. At any cost it’s much easier to handle than your massive display. Good luck in your journey.

Bought live bunch plants until I got "pest" snails. Couldn't bring myself to buy them, but needed the snails! MTS snails, bladder snails, nerite snails, mystery snails, they're all fantastic.

Thank you for this video bc my oscar def does and he acts like he is starving. at first my thought my pleco was eating all the food bc he has gotten so aggressive when it comes to food. So i switched up to feeding my oscar more protein but he still acts the same. he just greedy. lol

My mubuna cichlids are very aggressive and territorial and they are always moving coral sand around the tank which look very untidy. I also have a tank of peacocks with a few haps. I was going to mix them all together but after researching the issue, I’m not going yo mix them as it will cause more problems, my mbuna fish are going to be sold . I love the color of the male peacocks so going to keep them. I’m used to having a traditional peaceful aquarium with tetras, danios, swordtail ect. At the end of the day it’s weather your prepared to tolerate the fighting and aggression.

My buddy just died. He was a purple-headed, orange-white-blue-striped African cichlid. I'm so sad. Ugh, I'm feeling miserable. African cichlids are indeed the best. He was massive, living to be 14 years old. He shared my 39-gallon tank with a smaller yellow cichlid, which lived to be 13 years old. Of course, my pleco was also part of the family. My original pleco was huge, but sadly passed away earlier this year, likely around 13 years old. I think my fish would have lived longer if I hadn't had to deal with the recent tornado and power outage. Additionally, over the past five years, I had several surgeries due to a car accident and wasn't able to care for the tank as well as I should have. Today is a very sad day. A good suggestion might be to have separate tanks for older fish like my buddy, so they can avoid being bullied by the younger ones.

I have a 10 gallon guppy tank with cherry shrimp and several dozen snails. It must be a healthy tank because the fish shrimp and snails breed like crazy. With the snails there's so many different colors. From pink, white, blue and a combination of colors. Why did this happen? 90% are ramshorn. Another tank has brown ramshorn.

Hopefully you'll understand what I'm trying to ask when it comes to photographing/videoing smaller fish (eg Tetras, guppies, etc) in a fishtank. Obviously the faster, the better eg F/1.4 for light purposes. But what about focal length and Minimum Focusing Distance combo? Would you recommend something like 20mm with a short MFD or go with something like 85mm but slightly higher MFD, which even though you stand back further might give a more close up photo (if that makes sense). Thanks in advance

I have found that stopping down to have less out-of-focus in the shot helps, even when using a fast lens. As an example, if I am using an f/2.8, I may stop down to f/11 (for video, not photos). For photos I tend to go lower on the f stop and make sure the fish is in focus. As far as focal length, I would suggest trying a few options if you have different lenses. My favorite lens for photos of fish is my 100mm f/2.8. I will also use my 24-70 f/2.8, usually between 50-70mm. I have also used my 35mm f/1.8 for both photo and video B roll.

@@TazawaTanks Thank you for taking the time to give a comprehensive reply. I currently only have one lens - a zoom lens - which has a fairly big MFD which increases as you zoom, so the fish only take up a small portion of the photo. Your reply will help when it comes to choosing my next lens. If money was no object I would be buying multiple primes at various focal lengths. Thanks again for your reply.

What? Daphnia are NOT the easiest live food. Daphnia cultures often crash for no particular reason, even for experienced keepers. Obviously e.g. vinegar eels are easier to culture.

Zenzo, thank you so much for your candor and transparency. I have been struggling for a while now with burnout. I gave away half my fish and tanks, and bought one larger tank (a 75 g) to put the remaining fish in, just to try to invigorate this hobby for me. But honestly, it is really hard. You have so many real life demands and stresses, and you have to carefully curate how you spend your free time. It's a struggle. So its' refreshing to see a professional, someone I greatly admire, struggling just like me.

I would love to hear your opinion about wave makers in African Cichlid tanks. You’re one of my favorite African Cichlid people and I’ve noticed you’re one of the few that doesn’t use them. Would love to see it in a video or just hear your opinion!

I used them many years ago, but I personally don't find a huge use for them unless I have a sponge pre filter attached to them. Some people love them, and I think that's fine. There are many ways to setup a tank to enjoy the fish.
