Great history on this Apache, and a very nice minimalist restoration on it. I've owned and restored 3 of these. One little glitch in your video is when you mentioned converting the electrical system from 6V to 12V. Chevrolets were already on a 12V system since 1955, so there's no conversion needed on this.

I had a '77. It did not hold up to our midwest road salt. By the time it was 7 years old the door pillars had rusted out bad enough the doors were sagging. The tailgate hinges were so rusty I stopped opening the tailgate for fear it might fall off. But I did like the size of the vehicle.

Things to look out for! Body rot everywhere. They were nothing but rust buckets. I had a '68 and a '69. I was constantly repairing rust. Finally the body mounts rotted through and there were no replacements. Off to the junkyard they went. Too bad, I liked them. Now, every part is available.

Almost every part :) I've been scorching the Earth looking for a clutch release shaft for a 196 with t-18a. I guess it's an oddball bell housing to mate them.

You can see the big fish eye along the bottom of the left front fender going towards the driver’s door. Looks like someone tried to salvage that fender, by pasting it back together

@carrestorationguy96687 ай бұрын
yes you just have to change out the latches .

Cheated on the tail caps. The seam is filled in and not original. But who's looking at that kind of detail these days...
@carrestorationguy96687 ай бұрын
its not original by no means. The previous owner had actually welded in the seams on caps.

I have a scout 80, the body would have been to far gone in another year in this coastal weather to want to deal with it anymore, but besides the fact that the fuel economy is absolutely atrocious for a 4 cylinder, its just as realiable as any old international tractor, its pretty cool

How's the car running after nearly two years? And which Holley kit was it? I've got a later 5.0L alloy M117 and I'm just about ready to ditch the mechanical Bosch CIS. The car was an import from the Middle East in the 1980s, so it was subject to DOT/EPA federalization, and they've messed up a few things here and there.
