True. The nurses did hold hands with seriously wounded soldiers and yet some still made it home alive after evacuation to Japan. Many cases we never heard that they made it and found them years later. Miracles happened.

I left Chu Lai just as you were getting there. I was drafted and really appreciated all you nurses who joined to take care of us. 91st Evac was great to us. Sorry you saw so many casualties!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

80% disabled Vietnam veteran here. I worked at a somewhat safe job at Long Binh and served with a couple of WACs. They were always very professional and nice to look at! I visited the 24th Evac while there on one occasion and was treated well by the nurses I encountered. May God bless you angel!

Thank you Lou Eisenbrandt for sharing your experiences in Vietnam. I served with the U. S. Air Force at Danang Airbase, 11/68 - 11/69. I was fortunate that my only needs of medical care in Vietnam were mild compared to those of the ground troops that were in contact with enemy troops on a daily basis. I don't recall meeting a military nurse during my time in Southeast Asia. In April of 1969, our bomb dump caught fire and for three days the explosions continued. Three of our AC-47D Spooky gunships were prepared to evacuate to Chu Lai so that we could provide ground support for the ground troops. I was a crew chief so went with my aircraft when it went to Chu Lai. We spent five days there, our aircraft flying at night and us maintenance troops working on them each day to prepare for another night of providing support for the ground troops. The Marines and Army troops at Chu Lai treated us well while we were there and made sure we ate well and had whatever we needed to keep the aircraft in tip-top shape.

I remember Chief Albanese from my days at LAPD, That unfortunately was an era that won't be repeated in this current regime. Burbank is very lucky. These guys were innovators and set the standard for tactics, training and practices in high risk senerios for years to come. Great to hear is recollections. 2-77

I couldn't agree more. There's a reason I asked Chief Albanese to be our guest for our first episode. The law enforcement profession are fortunate to have him on our side. Thanks for the comment.

so many people say it was "hot" dont think people actually understand what that actually means it actually means little untill you understand weather it was a wall of uncomfortabily unconforbility = 1) humidity 2) no wind 3) temp 66F with 80% humidity will make you sweat (you sweat standing still 98f with 17% humidity and light wind is very comfortable (you have to do vigourous exercise to sweat all this is based on the condition in the climate zone you are located in look at climate maps learn about weather

When I first got there I had a Platoon Sargent for my part of the San Fernando Valley, he was terrible. He ETSed and we got a guy E-5 named believe it or not BOB DILLION. he was on his second tour. First was with the 25th ID, and we were in the 23rd ID... AMERICAL 1st/52nd, 198th LIB. I was his RTO. Man did he untangle us. Thank God. He could see ahead and tell us WTF. we were lucky, I kind of understood why someone would do this twice. I just bought the book

I LIVED IN Cam Duc for 4 years!!! I knew there was something going on there but was not sure of what exactly. I know about the old airstrip. I was the security guy in a Gold Room at Phuoc Son Gold mine. 2009 - 2013. The mine was a short drive straight up into the deep thick triple canopy jungle just at the Laos Border. Crazy times and stories I have experienced and heard over my 7 years in country. Anyway, I will not waste anymore time other than to say, this is one of the best interviews I have ever seen from these amazing warriors of the sky. Thank you for all of your service and making time to record your story. I would love to hear more as I know you have tons more. I am... Have been living in Thailand full time since 2013 after my last contract in Vietnam. I would love to take you to lunch if you ever get to Beautiful Gorgeous Bangkok Thailand 🇹🇭 🌺 🌴 🌴 🙏 Thank you. 🙏 🇺🇸

Thanks Tim. This series was extremely well done, and you have developed some excellent skill sets that emerge in these presentations. Having been there that night, this allowed me to collect some of my memories. I especially appreciated being able to listen (again) to the radio traffic that was so befuddling in "real time". This was my first opportunity in 30 years to review it. So here's to Marty, and here's to your guests and the rest of us who were there that night and that make up an unfortunate fraternity within the brotherhood. #200

It’s so important to call out your car stops. I had a guy on my shift back in the day who would go down on a state highway that when thru our township and never called out his stops. It drove me nuts. Regardless, its a tough situation. God bless!
