Looking for an explanation of how to understand ragas on sitar. Here they all play the same and when I listen to others, each performance is totally different even when its the same tune. I know little about ragas though I love playing sitar. Anyone know a good book to get and or? I have a list of Ragas and their notes yet again when i play the music to them that I find, everyone is completely different, any help out there?

20000 years ago the Sahara and the Arabian deserts were lush green with grass eating animals, indicating human presence. When they turned dry the people moved away in all directions, some to Europe and some east to India, explaining the extant Indo-European language. A group established the city of Dwaraka in 9000 years ago, around which grew the worship of Vishnu, in a public temple. Much later, around 4000-1900 B.C. the Vedic tradition (with domestic rites only, with no public temple) endorsing the tradition of Vishnu Puran, showing great reverence to the puranic rishis Marichi, Narada, Markandia etc. Even later came Ram (a Semitic name like his ancestor Dilip) as an Avatar of Vishnu, essentially preserving the ancient tradition of Dwaraka. I request You-tube to produce a video on this theme. Thank you.

Almost by very definition India's musicians are truly musicians musicians. By that I mean they play so wonderfully even a simple person can understand the lyricism in the emotional joy. But it takes a long, long time to understand what's really going on here and so if I'm a simple man I can sit and cancer time with my hand in my lap or if I'm more sophisticated musically I can hear the subdivisions of the rhythms and the various formats of twos and fives. And just the sheer audacity of having 1000 Sitarz I mean just imagine to been there live and just sit in that room it's unbelievable. As most of you know, at least the ones who will be watching this video Indian musical concerts go on for hours and hours and hours and hours. I am a 57-year-old professional Musician in the west and after listening to classical Indian music my whole life since age of 12 I'm now shyly proud to say that I can go for four hours before I have to get up and wander off somewhere and lay down and rest, Even to sleep, but oh what rested is! What's sleep it is! Thank you mother India for the gift of your bosom the woods and the grasses in the human voices that you have formed into what we know is Indian music is the voice of earth itself
