Also lived there in the 60's. Not far from the Hardway on Albemarle Avenue. Dad was on the HMS Hermes and worked at HMS Daedelus.

Thank you for making the movie, I lived in Gosport from 1957 to 1970 when I left for Australia at 19 years old by my self. I have many fond memories of Elson Primary School then Grove Road Boys High School then to the brand new Brune Park High left school in 1967. Work at Woolworth part time from 13 to 17 years old in the traffic filled High Street then. Best wishes to all of my old school mate in Gosport , most will be 72 years old now. Simon Nash, 96 Selsey Avenue, Elson was the old address.

Thankyou! A trip down Memory Lane. We lived there through the 60s. My Dad was stationed at HMS Dolphin and was on the Artemis submarine when it was in action and seaworthy! I didn't realise it had sank on its moorings!

I cry when I see this and remember what Gosport High Street used to look like compared with the disaster that it is now in 2023.

As a younger gosport citizen, the video here looks like its filmed in another country! Like the nature and greatness is gone

thankyou for this. I lived in Gosport from ˋ71 till 76 went to Bay House School hung out at Stokes Bay, marveled at the subs and battle ships, glorious time in the town with a beach.❤❤

Remember some of Gosport in the 60s but came to Australia in 1970 saw some things that brought back memories but came to Oz when I was ten. I do remember a Cafe called black cat I think or wimpys stopping in for a jam doughnut also the swimming baths

Wow a trip down memory lane. I lived in Gosport from 1962 until 1995 when i moved to Southampton. Really nice to see the High street, I do remembering driving down the high street before it was closed to traffic. My mum left me outside of Woolworths in my pram and walked home without me. She got home and granny asked her where the baby was ( me ) .I guess she paniced , i was in my pram and i was fine, the good old days.

Brilliant - love it. Moved to Gosport in 1966 this brings back memories, especially the Gosport ferry and the old bus terminal in town. Thanks for posting!

Lovely to see this, Alan, and a great addition to the silent cine footage shot by various people on the launch day. Thanks for sharing.
