I have seen many videos with reactions to this song. The reactions show that we are not alone. Everyone reacts with empathy and understanding. If the world needed an anthem, this would be it. Peace, love and big hugs around the world.

Hello! Everyone who sees this “new edition” of the song must keep in mind that the song was originally written at a time when Germany and its army and their missions were changing. Until then, the army's task was only to defend Germany. Suddenly, foreign missions were to take place, first humanitarian services, later combat missions. But Germany was still guilty of having provoked the Second World War and sworn never again to send German troops to another country, even 40 - 45 years after its end, when this song was written. Germany never wanted to cross German borders with its army again, but was forced and coerced to do so by its allies during the first and second Iraq wars. Another song by Reinhard Mey (“Sei wachsam”) states: “Never again shall violence emanate from this land! We must show our colors, must not stand aside! Purely humanitarian, of course, and without shedding any blood! Combat missions can no longer be completely ruled out! They're dragging us in further and further, bit by bit. And since 05:00 this morning, we've been shooting back again!” (Reference: The message on the radio 1939: “We've been shooting back since 05:45 this morning!” was the beginning of the Second World War with the invasion/Blitzkrieg on Poland by the Wehrmacht, although the Polish armed forces had never fired a shot before) Or take this line from Reinhard Mey, who grew up in Berlin during the war, from his song “Die Waffen nieder”! “Born in a city, ravaged and destroyed by war, I've heard “never again war!” for as long as I can remember. I've learned my lesson so well, I've seen war from so near The war that even the child understood what was happening. Some fears, I know, I will never lose And never erase images from my mind. And war is a crime, no war is ever just And you who sugarcoat it and break your vows, I can hear you pious prayers beating the drum, To lead other people's children into your battles. Remember, you never wanted war again, never again - Lay down your arms!”

A tribute to his hometown Bochum. Bochum is located in an industrial area that made a decisive contribution to the “German economic miracle” after the war through its coal mining and steel production. - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKGqeneFd7-kna8 (english subs) The song is also always played when Bochum's soccer team takes to the pitch. Pure goosebump moments.

Reinhard Mey is one of the best singer and songwriter in german language, a real bard. A poet and a language artist. Born in 1942 and since the late 1960's he's on tour with his music untill today. His lyrics are poetical, very serious, critical or romantic and sometimes funny and humorous. He's also well known in France as Federick Mey, because francophones have an issue with his firstname Reinhard., they can't speak it that well. 😉

Back in the 1980s, when Reinhard Mey first wrote that song, Germany still had the draft -- compulsory military service for all young men over 18. The only way to avoid this (unless you weren't fit to serve) was to declare yourself a conscientious objector and sign up for the same amount of time (18 months back then) to do "substitute service" -- being a nurse's helper, a delivery person for Meals on Wheels, work in a children's home or look after senior citizens. Another alternative to National Service was to sign up with the Red Cross or Disaster Relief, for several years. Actually, many social services and charities are quite dependent on these "substitute servicemen" nowadays, and the process of objecting to military service has become much easier, but the song is still quite relevant 40 years later.

The forest was the scene of a battle between Germany and the USSR in World War II. Many of the fallen soldiers still lie there. The older gentleman at the end of the song is Reinhard Mey himself, he wrote the song in the mid-80s when the Cold War threatened to get really hot again. Greetings from Germany!

The song "Co mi Panie dasz" was written in 1982 by Beata Kozidrak, the vocalist of the Bajm band. It is August 28 and it is 8.30 pm. The sun is still up. The sun is setting earlier and earlier and it is now dark at night. Leaves on the trees are starting to turn yellow and orange and the beauty of fall is showing.. The temperature is dropping and the air is crispier than in the summer. Migrating birds can be seen getting ready to make their long flight to warmer places.. Soon winter is here with darkness and snow. I love living here, får up north ❤❤

This Song is from 1983 and a Tribute to his hometown Bochum. The City belongs to Germanys industrial heart the Ruhr area, historical a Hotspot of coalmining and steel producing. Npt a cute place at all, full of grey buildings and dirt. A workers town, but his home for years - and he loves it. The concert happened in Bochums neighbourtown at Gelsenkirchen's Football Stadium. Perhaps 65 to 70.000 people joined it.

He is by far the most successful musician in Germany. The album for this tour (“Mensch”) already had platinum status before it was even released (only because of the pre-orders). This concert was everything: unbelievable sadness, insane love from the fans (during the song that came after “Der Weg”, they did a 15-minute La Ola wave through the stadium) and lots of fun from all sides (for a large part of the concert, he was once again the likeable, silly, creative (and occasionally cheeky) musician that everyone there, including his band colleagues, loves so much). The concert was a huge party. For a large part of the time.

He lost his brother and(!) his wife in just one week. His brother died from leukemia and his wife Anna died from breast cancer. He wrote this song for Anna, the love of his life. After these tragic losses he stepped away from music, because he had to take care fulltime of his little children. This tour was the first tour after his forced break from being a full time musician. You can tell that this tour was a healing process for him. Look at his face, he's still in pain. He's such a beloved artist here in Germany. We adore him for his talent, his lyrics writing skills, his musicality. He writes the most beautiful lyrics, they are so poetic... he's a great classical piano player and he used to be an actor, too. His talent is impressive!

Elvis regarded Roy Orbison as having the best voice in the world. John Lennon had huge respect for him as well. Roy sandgfor the broken hearted , for the guy who never got the girl although in "Pretty Woman" he did. With his desolate Texan drawl, Roy's voice almost sounded at times like it was crying. He was a humble, polite, very kind man. Abeautiful soulful voice
