I agree. I wanted to do something like but ran out of time this year because of all the other additions we made. I did have a big clown in there but it wasn’t hidden by the vortex nor did it really fit this scene. We are planning a clown/carnival scene for next yr it will be be better for. I think the best investment for the swamp and vortex scenes was the use of Hazers instead of fog machines
@curt42828 күн бұрын
A hazer? Hmmm what is that? Must Google Hazer looked great ..
@EastPointNecropolis7 күн бұрын
@ a haze machine is pretty much a fog machine that puts out a finer lower density fog and can run continuously without using near as much fluid as a fog machine. Froggy’s Fog recommended using a hazer for the best laser fog and vortex effects. I have a Froggy’s H2 hazer and a Rockville Rockhaze 700 (works as well as the Froggy’s at less than 1/2 the price)

Any specifics on the movement??
@EastPointNecropolis8 күн бұрын
@@cesarcalderon7308 a windshield wiper motor attached to the tailbone propels it forward and back. You have to figure out the placement of the motor on your baseplate depending upon how much movement you want. Most wiper motors come with a small arm to attach it to, but you can also make your own by using a mending plate from a hardware store. The longer the armature arm, the more movement it’ll have forward and back, so you just have to play with it. Not all skeletons are made the same so you may have to loosen screws where the joints are put together so that it will move more freely. Securing the arms to your front of the base plate let’s the shoulders move forward and back when the wiper motor moves.

Great work, dude. I notice your home has a lot of outdoor space. So, do you have some acreage? Maybe you should consider getting a loan for an actual barn/storage building? If I had that much room, I totally would. I’d love to have a permanent structure to continuously improve. The yearly build-up of tents and walls is wearing me out.

@@whitewebshaunt4798 thanks you have a great haunt as well, I’ve used some of your videos for inspiration. I have just .75 acres but am surrounded by woods on 3 sides that my neighbors own. I wish I could put a building behind my house but unfortunately it’s all leech field that I cannot build upon. Storage is a big pain and even trying to find rental space is not easy because I live on a small island (3.5 miles across) so there’s not much availability. This year I had 2 easy ups get destroyed by wind damage so I bought 3 carport canopies (last minute)that were far more durable and cost about the same. A bit harder to put up but not too bad. I’ve had locals in the community suggest moving it to a community venue in which the city would pay for storage and help with set up and running it but then I’m taking it away from being my own “Home Haunt” and fear what nightmares that would bring. It’s pretty frustrating trying to do all the work with very little help though.

I love your setup... amazing!!! The lights and effects were spectacular! I love Distortions Unlimited... but my Halloween was rained out with heavy wet snow and some of my props from DU were so heavy and soaked like a sponge that had been sitting in a bucket of water... SOAKED where you touch the foam and it pours water. My haunted tree and tombstone from DU were the worst, the others that I have all have problems with water that has been soaked into the foam. My entire house I have stripped down props with fans blowing nonstop since Halloween, I had to take down my entire haunt because I didn't want my props damaged. I even turned up the home heat to 72 degrees with high velocity fans I just purchased 3 more large fans to try to dry the foam, but it still remains soaked. Ed and Marsha said to use a towel and press on the foam to try to soak up as much water as I can, but they are still soaked. I feel like I am not making much progress after 48 hours of fans and towels I'm thoroughly disappointed. If there is a way to seal the foam so it won't absorb water, I am going to ask Ed and Marsha and annoy Janene lol I bug her often... Sorry Janene if you are reading this. I have so much money invested in these props, and I absolutely love them all, but I need them to be weather resistant, waterproof would be best. It wrecked my Halloween, and I'm still very upset....
@EastPointNecropolis17 күн бұрын
Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear this happened to you. These props are definitely not meant to be out in the rain. I know that sucks because for the money they cost, you want everyone to see them. We had to cover ours every time there was any potential of rain. We lucked out on Halloween and the rain mostly went around us. Foam takes a long time to dry out. I think the only thing you can do is have them in a room with heat and fans blowing on them and a dehumidifier wouldn’t hurt to boot. I’m so sorry for your bad experience and hope you can get them back to new again. And definitely talk more with Janene. I bug her all the time too lol

@EastPointNecropolisАй бұрын
Yes I didn’t show it here but I simply removed the head from the spine by loosening or removing the screws in the head that hold it in. Then I cut the spine back a couple inches below the neck line so that I could fit the 1/2” pipe and 3/4” T in its place so that you can get the up and down head movement.

How you build the neck part
@EastPointNecropolisАй бұрын
In my previous video kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2eUhZKpoaZ3jsksi=zNxrvyYW0tEnVjdn starting at :34. I had removed the head from the neck and cut back the spine a few inches to make room for a pice of 1/2” pvc pipe with a 3/4” T slid onto it. The 3/4” T will allow the head to swivel. Then I put a 3/4”-1/2” reducer in the T and a section of 1/2” pipe to lead back up and attach to the head. (Sorry I didn’t show this part in the video). The 1/2” pipe fits better into the head than a 3/4” will. You can either glue the pipe into the head or just let it swivel around a bit which I prefer. When you attach a line to the back of the head and anchor it to the base plate, it will restrict that movement a little.

I like what you did but how did you get the movement of what looks like he going up down and how his shoulders move with easy. Is what would like to know if you don’t mind sharing
@EastPointNecropolisАй бұрын
@@robjara3469 honestly the movement was not so much intentional as it was trial and error. This particular skeleton had ball joints without the ratcheting mechanism which made it smoother and easier to move without having to add any other hardware so I think that helped a lot in the movement. Also, I cut my own piece of aluminum for the linkage since this motor didn’t come with the linkage arm, which is usually small anyway. The length of the linkage will determine how far forward and back it will go so you just have to decide how much movement you want and again that’s all just trial and error. The up-and-down movement comes from the ball joint, which I loosened the screws that hold it together so that it move more freely.
