Hey Andy cool templates. Is there any version where you combine all templates together or link the, to each other?

@@andygaught maybe where you insert the property once and all templates use the same source. Maybe a combined table of all the open task and a combined calendar view. At least for me it’s the biggest challenge to stay on top of all topics at the same time.

You are an excellent instructor. I was terrified and overwhelmed at the prospect of using Asana. Now that I have found your videos, I am ready to jump in with both feet and can see how this will be extremely helpful for me. Thank you. I look forward to working with you.

Do you prefer Notion to Asana for SOPs?
@andygaught
@andygaught 26 күн бұрын
Yes definitely. Asana is only really suitable for projects and tasks, whereas Notion is great for storing SOP instructions, embedding rich media like videos and also for maintaining SOPs using the database functionality...

Hello Andy how did you get your toggles side by side please and thank you

Hi! The easiest way is in your synced block, type /col2 for two columns, /col3 for three columns etc...and then in each empty column add a toggle using > like normal...

Can a task be associated with more than one room? For example, select waterproofing system for bathrooms? Or do you have to create a task for each bathroom?
@andygaught
@andygaught 3 ай бұрын
In this template the location is a simple select property, where you just pick the room from the list. However, you can do what you ask a couple of different ways: 1) Change the 'select' property to 'multi-select' and then have options for bathroom 1, bathroom 2 etc and just select as many rooms as you want. (simpler option) 2) Create a database to store your list of rooms and relate that 'room' database to your 'task' database using a relation property. For each task you then pick the specific rooms (more complicated) For both, bear in mind whether the task needs to be managed on it's own per room. For example, in one bathroom you may know what waterproofing system to use (perhaps it's just a toilet), whereas in a different bathroom you need to do more research (perhaps it's needs a more specialised solution). In that case two tasks should be created so you can track and manage them separately...

It shows 9 pounds (or $12) cost, not free. What am I doing wrong? Also, is there a place where all of the things you did are kept and hyperlinked to? For example, the client who is likely the one using this template has a lot of things to select for purchase, but they might all be purchased at one time after selected. It would be ideal to go look at all of your selections, click on them, and then order them together. Maybe that's beyond the scope of this template. Thanks.

Was a great overview. Just wonder how to use "template text" in creating new context. Like a Social Media DB for ccontext I wanna publish on my companies Teams Channel. Whenever we got a new hire I wanna create a new series of Post in this DB but the actual post test will come from a template DB. So for Post1 the Text for this post is coming from a template in the TeplateDB called Post 1. So I have the option to change the text in the template DB and each new creation of the post series will use this text.´

is there anyway to lock the synced block so that it feels like a real navigation menu , cause every time I hover over it , it feels like I'm gonna delete something from it
@andygaught
@andygaught 5 ай бұрын
Hi, you can lock the page, which enables you to interact with elements like databases etc, and it will lock the synced block, so you can click but not edit the text. But this will also lock the rest of the text on the page...

Some extra tips I´ve done: - Instead of using words on the links of the synced block, I use emojis, so if you use notion on mobile, you have all the links in less space - I placed the "quick action" buttons also on the synced block, but inside a toggle, so I can expand or minimize, and of course I used emojis So they are smaller

Thank you explain how to organize dashboard. I learnt lots of things. To organize dashboard it is necessary to make databases on different topics. so, which one is priority to other? for that reason, I focus to organize dashboard rather than making databases.

Cool set up. Would welcome opportunity to learn how you connect notes, projects, tasks etc..I would be interested in downloading the template as well. That’s said, I would like to create a “Daily Jot” view like in Amplenote. I like this as it allows me to have a DB of a years worth of “journals” capturing everything that I can then review at the end of the year and use AI to get summaries, etc. Open to all help.

Hi, thank you! I would recommend you check out the video here --> kzbin.info/www/bejne/imKzhX6mip15jqcsi=0b1uc9GNBhiT3DSO which is a more refined version of this set up and has more detail. To download that template, check out the pinned comment link. For a daily set of journals, I would create a day database which you can review / use AI...

Excellent video - What is the difference between a Goal and a Project in your system? Also I am new to Notion so this might be a dopey question. Could you have a Note that was a project overview which then had filtered views for the project and any tasks? I might be doing things wrong but that way I can print the project if needed. Does this have any automations? i.e if you have a funding project then I am guessing you have a process and a list of tasks / checklists, if you create a certain project type would it auto fill what is needed?
@andygaught
@andygaught 7 ай бұрын
Thank you! A goal is a more medium term target, and normally you don't complete tasks towards a goal, instead you complete projects...for example. A goal could be to earn £5000 by the end of 2024 from a side hustle. Projects would be specific pieces of work that you complete to get there and they are made up of tasks... You can definitely create a page, which contains details on the project and the associated tasks. You can even see the tasks directly in the body of the project. If I understand you correctly, then yes, you can create a funding project database template, so when you create a new funding project it would fill in the info you need. I've done a video on this which you can see here --> kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKmbZHyFf7p7iNUsi=MB6mhcsMHeLeG747 and point 4 at 8mins covers database templates. This doesn't contain ready made templates, since the areas are examples, but of course you can create your own! Hope that helps :).
