There's a concern that I have about your video. You made several comments about being quiet, putting the dirt and stuff back so if there's trackers they wont find you. When would a person be concerned about trackers? Other than maybe someone on the run from the law and you're giving them advice how to evade them. Is that the case?

Theres an easier way brother... Boil the water first. Use a large cactus pad and extract the inner part of the pad by cutting it in half, the smaller pads do not have as much of the aloe vera like substance which cleans the water. Place the aloe vera like substance into the water after it cools, the aloe vera will naturally filter the water as it sits in the water.

Are roots, particularly in pine forests (especially so near the base of a tree) ever a concern? Thought I read somewhere this type of fire can cause the roots to smoulder underground and start forest fires days later?

Learn to use hot rocks, guys. Wrap them in debris or clothing and put them in the foot box of your reflective tyvek bivy. You can bury them in a row of pits under a raised pole bed, surrounding each one with a 2" thick layer of ashes. You can even hold warm rocks against your body, where arteries are near the surface, like inside your upper arm, on the back of your neck, inside of your thigh, using them to warm your blood. You can heat both sides of some rocks with a couple of siberian fire lays for half an hour and the rocks will warm you for several hours. Bury some coals and charcoal in an ashes-pit and the fire will remain "alive' all night, or all day.. You dont even 1/4 as much firewood and you dont need to risk having a fire inside of your shelter,, either. Also, your shelter can be airtight, with hot rocks and no fire, no smoke, other than a little vent hole in the top, pinkie sized. This seriously reduces loss of heat to convection and radiation. Add lots of dry debris as insulation and you wont need ANY heat source, unless it's sub 10F. When it's that, cold, at least at night, youll face little risk of hostilities, (cause you had an open fire) as long as you're gone from that area by dawn.

My grandma used to bury fish heads she got for free from the market. Not sure if they still give them for free anymore since now they charge for bones since bone broth became popular. Interesting about the rabbit pellets and dog food. I didn’t know that. I use coffee for nitrogen and ground up egg shells for calcium. Petsmart throws out all the dog/cat food that expires I guess I’ll go dumpster dive and get some free fertilizer lol I use it to feed it to the displaced raccoons so I could minimize the theft of my garden and fruit trees

I always heard them called a Criswell Fire Pit named after a Criswell guy that won the medal of honor for his part at the Battle of little big horn. Think more people know it as the Dakota Fire Pit but its really a Criswell Fire Pit. The fact he won the medal of honor is enough alone to give it to him. Lol.

Thank you for the survival method! I always like to learn things like this. I'm a hunter and you NEVER know if and or when you might need these skills. Even if you're a bird watcher or nature observer.. you can always use these skills no matter how goofy they may seem. Just remember.. when you're lost and alone - there is no 'modern' world anymore. Unless you came well prepared - you just got instantly transported back to the stone age. And what are you going to do to stay alive? I always make a fire pack out of tree pitch along with pitch knots. Keep several kits in plastic baggies. These packs will light in pouring rain and no paper required. You could use small pitch knots in your pit as well. They'll burn for a VERY long time and HOT. And the hotter the fire - the less smoke (generally). Avoid anything too green (lotsa smoke). My only problem is in our area we have a lot of clay soil that can be like trying to dig a hole in a Walmart parking lot! LOL. That shit can dry as hard as steel. Our clay laughs at those survival shovels.. lol.

I have kind of an odd question. Have you ever seen a version of the fire where you could have a fire inside an underground shelter with no visibility of the fire outside, dissipate the smoke to the outside so it can't be easily seen, and have an opening for fresh air to the shelter. Additionally, it should have a way rigged up to keep animals out of the shelter whether your inside or not and very little sign if any that would allow someone to find the shelter. It's just an idea I have but I haven't completely thought it through yet. It would also be nice to have some way that would allow seeing anyone approaching the area from inside the shelter. I'm thinking of something that would be very difficult for anyone to find and be kind of an ultimate stealth shelter. I wonder if the Vietnamese came up with something like this during the Vietnam War or if native Americans ever did anything similar. I'd be very interested in knowing what your thoughts are that might make what I'm describing more practical.

there’s no way I am sleeping in a pile of leaves next to a fire. And every time I’ve been around the fire the wind blows the smoke every which way so there’s no guarantee you’re gonna keep smoke out of your face and thanks for skipping the actual set up of the shelter and not showing how you created a gap in the back
