im no expert but i did TAC last year with a backpack. im doing it this year with my Kifaru hip quiver and Marsupial Bino harness. i dont see the need for a backpack. i can survive a few hours without food and ill have my water in my hip quiver. less is more when your hiking and not far from the car lol.

Hey my man, good video. I can lend some insight into the big pack question. I am one of those guys that carries a big pack, the reason being is I am from the East Coast, and hunt elk out west. I use TAC to do gear testing, boots clothing pack etc. I checkel for hotspots and things that might be an issue thousands of miles from home. It also helps build endurance and test my level of fitness. Yes I could do it in flip-flops but I use it as an opportunity. Keep up the good work

Appreciate it man👍 we’ve heard that before about using TAC to test gear and it makes sense. The ones that give us a good laugh is when guys will have their giant load bearing pack and it’s obviously empty other than some arrows a jacket and a few snacks. At the end of the day do whatever floats your boat we just like to joke around and not take things too serious I’m sure we all have things we do that others think are crazy.

Do you test different tip/instert weights? And do you bare shaft and nock tune? What's your FOC? Just curious if any of that matters for your style of shooting
@continuumoutdoors
@continuumoutdoors 8 күн бұрын
Honestly we don’t typically get that in depth with our builds. We aren’t ashamed to admit that at our skill level those types of things honestly don’t matter. We know some people like to nerd out on their arrows but for us time spent on the range is more useful than time spent worrying about these types of things. We might be a little more conscious of FOC when building arrows for actual hunting but just a normal paper tune is enough for us. Maybe one day we’ll be accurate enough that we would even notice the difference, but for now we like to shoot for a desired total arrow weight and then just put in the reps.

Just built 3 test TAC arrows today, RIP XV 300 spine .006 straightness, cut both ends to get maximum straightness out of each shaft. 65 grn half outs with 100grn field points, running an AAE wrapz and 4 fletch AAE Airazor vane total weight 394 grn. Can’t wait to poke some foam!

TAC should be a Pro/Am competition with podiums and prize money for what you pay to shoot it and some of the ridiculous ranges they set these targets up at. Right now, you are building dedicated target arrows to potentially try and win a truck. A truck that they charge you extra to try for. IDK, maybe you will throw a heavier head on and use these shafts for hunting.
@brpnw4r94
@brpnw4r94 Ай бұрын
False. There's always overlap to ensure 100% coverage on wraps. They come that way given the circumference of the shaft you're applying them to.

I have the RIP XV in the elite straightness on my shelf. They are already cut to length but not built yet. Still have to decide if I want to use the inserts or just buy glue-in points. Calculated mine to 330 grain with Uni Bushings, Bohning .166 nocks, wraps and 3-fletch 2.25“ TAC vanes. Only shooting 60lb because I‘m a smaller frame male 🙈

It was definitely more user error than it was the vanes or the glue but I figured it was a good idea to use their stuff after how the first round went.

@continuumoutdoors I keep my glue in the refrigerator to help it last longer, I've noticed if the glue is old it will cause vanes to come off. Idk if your glue was old and no good or not, but might have been the problem if it was.

Anyone else have issues with wraps ripping when shooting groups? I switched to wraps last year, Bohning, and even though they are easy to refletch, they seem to tear easy. Are there any wraps out there that are a little more durable? I mean, if a different arrow even grazes the fletching on an arrow in the target, it’s screwed.
@continuumoutdoors
@continuumoutdoors Ай бұрын
@@csaa1980 we’ve been pretty happy with the wraps we use from Onestringer. If I’m honest I don’t deal with arrows hitting each other very often with how I shoot lol but it happens occasionally and I’ve never had any issues with them tearing.
