I live in Pennsylvania but had to work during the 3 months everyone else got to stay home. The traffic was wonderfully light and safe Honestly I wish they never ended the quarantine. It proved to me many people don't really do anything at work they were not even missed

Hello from the Col's daughter! Thank you so much for doing this video. It brought back so many memories. I was in room 430 for the 4 years I was there graduating in 1984. I have watched the city and university change since the mid 60's. In the late 80's i was Dorm director for Bell Hall and Xavier Hall.

I'm going to sound morbid but, driving while the streets were dead like this was so peaceful to me. No giant trucks trying to run me off the road. No homicidal drivers running red lights and stop signs every other intersection. No clowns dancing in the middle of the street. Just me and open road. I just wish it didn't happen under such dire events.

My husband, friends and I used to rent the whole Inn so we could enjoy time with Beth & Lee Jay when they owned it. This was the early 1980’s. I would come on Friday and cook a big Italian dinner for us all so Beth got a break. She made the best fiddlehead soup that she would forage for. So many loving memories every season.

Thank you for sharing this great memory. The Inn found a new owner around 2019, but they operated a short time I guess and recently sold it in 2024. While I am told it's getting renovated, sadly, and with much disappointment from the community, the new owner has stripped it of the Rowell's Inn name! I drove by just a short time ago while visiting Vermont and the infamous Rowell's sign is indeed gone. I truly don't understand why people would remove such a piece of history. It carried the Rowell name since 1911.

I just thought of asking since I was actually just wondering myself, but exactly what day in August of 1991 was this video taken? I was just curious to know since I was actually born in August of 1991 myself and I was just wondering exactly what day in August this was recorded on.

I'll have to see if I can find my original VHS or any notes attached to the conversion to DVD. Not sure what I'll find but miracles can happen.

@@drakkar91 Okay then and thanks for looking into that for me too since I was just curious myself. My birthday was also just yesterday on August 2nd, and I was born in 1991 myself. Since this video was recorded back in August of 1991, I was just curious as to know the exact date of when this was recorded on, whether it was on the day of my birthday or on a different day back in August of that year. Rehoboth Beach, Delaware also sure seemed a lot different back in 1991 than it does today, and I've been to Rehoboth Beach before many times even though I don't live in Rehoboth. Thanks for sharing this video again too!

I know this truck that is being taken for a drive is a Dodge truck because of the Ram hood ornament I can see. Is it a Ram Pickup or RamCharger? It’s obviously sounding gasoline not diesel because of the noise

Thank you so very much for sharing your vid and pics. For literally years I've been trying to find pics of the ole Crown Hall. I graduated May '73 (Associates in Travel Tourism Management). I lived in Crown for my 2 years at JWU; was a "proctor" during my 2nd year. Unfortunately I never took pics back then altho today my hobby is amateur photography. The mention of a fire in your vid reminds me of how during my 2nd year we had a "fire bug" who would often set off the fire alarm in the middle of the night. Being a proctor let me have a private room. Anyway, I loved my tiny room on the 4th floor that overlooked Pine Street below. I also remember those super long hallways. Fun memories. Thank you!

Thank you for sharing your memories of the Crown Hotel turned dorm. It was challenging to find images and that required a lot of searching. I'd love to find more student photos from the 70's and 80's, but aside from many not taken, those folks would also have to find them, likely in a shoebox tucked away. I did a revised version after getting vintage video from the Rhode Island Historical Society!

Hi! I’m in NJ. Guessing you guys headed “down the shore” to Seaside Heights, Atlantic City or Cape May? Or maybe you saw some of the more central or western parts of the state which live up to our name as the “Garden State” full of farmland, fields, parks, lakes, etc. I hope you enjoyed your visit. Take care!

Wow - excellent guesses! We came into NJ via the Ferry from Lewes DE so entered via Cape May! I grew up in Ocean County so although I went to Seaside Heights on many visits, I don't think we made it on this trip.
