Interesting video, thank you 🙏🏻 Do you know if records cut today have the bass reduced more than records in the 70ies?
@wellmademusic4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! Generally, the RIAA playback curve has been standardized since the 1950s, so there shouldn't be a difference in how much bass is cut onto any modern side. What has changed, however, is how much bass is present on your average modern song (with a trend towards increased bass when compared to older 1970s recordings, etc.) So, with that all said, modern cutting engineers are more likely to have to cut some of the bass down on average when compared to older releases. This could be to try and save space to get a louder cut, or other playback issues. We generally try and keep things as "flat" as possible and true to the source master as possible. Hope this helps! -Dave

This was amazing! I'm not sure how I ended up here, but I'm so glad I did. I'll be looking for more from the Henhouse Prowlers, for sure. Excellent performance!

it helps if you don't rush so don't fall prey to the "fast" sell

Certainly! We advise most clients to get the ball rolling on lining up pressing as soon as possible. With vinyl, while we try every preventative step, things beyond our control can occur that push the production timeline back. Our advice (regardless of whom/where you have your LP's pressed) is to place your order at the plant as soon as the masters are ready and to avoid publicly announcing any release shows, etc., until the test pressings have been approved, at the very least. As with most things, better quality requires more time to complete. Thanks for the insight! -Dave

Do you have the cutterhead and amp too?
@wellmademusic Жыл бұрын
Yes, the lathe came with a Neumann SX68 Cutterhead and we are restoring a Neumann VG66 Amp Rack to go along with the lathe.

Great to see something with so much history being cared for as it should have been. I spent many hours in Paul's studio (SUMA) when he and I taught at Lakeland.
