I haven't directly compared them, but there has always been a wide variety in their production sizes. It would make sense to me that they tend to get smaller as the availability of economy mid quality briar would be naturally trending down. My personal theory is that for the money you would get a better pipe by getting a 30's-60's estate through a pipe shop or online. You can typically get one for around $20 vs $50 for a new Grabow which is available at some drugstores like Walgreens. The estate would have been made from higher quality briar plus your adding 50+ years of age to it. Just my 2 cents, which is worth about 1.5 cents with inflation.
