Wow! These guys rank right up there with Eddie & the Showmen, the Torquays, the Challengers, the Ventures, real California Surf Instrumental music from the 1962 and 1963 years. Terrific reverb, amps and twang sounds of real authentic Surf splashed waves coming ashore.

Eddie Bertrand a Surf Guitar legend he could make one see the Surfers riding waves on their boards with that guitar. He made it look so easy playing that guitar. The true professionals have that magic gift. He is right up there with the best like Dick Dale. Did he ever see or play at Waikiki, Beach Hawaii? He would have jammed the area where the Hula girls dance and sing or near the Royal Hawaiian Hotel Courtyard by the Sea! The crowds would have been phenomenal listening to him and the Showmen perform. Paradise for you Eddie rest in peace. Your music and recordings will live on into eternity and should be in the Surfers Hall of Fame in Huntington Beach Surfers Museum at the Pier in Huntington Beach, California.

The caption to this video references "Eddie Bertrand of The Blairs." NO, should be The Belairs. Had me going for a second there.

Update on the last video, the date and source is Where the action is February 20, 1967 correct me if I’m incorrect on that.

Anyone know the date or source in the first and last clip? I already know the song in the last clip.
@connorbliss86694 жыл бұрын
Update on the second to last clip. It was from where the action is. And wasn’t Dick Clark who introduced them? Think that was about right but anyway it’s still a good clip.

The Standells do not approve of this video. Surf City Video intentionally left out keyboardist and co-founding member Larry Tamblyn who is also shown. This was done intentionally because of a personal dispute.

Really Larry, nothing better than to surf KZbin bitching about Standells vids? You are pathetic. Cry me a river. You are a pathetic little man.

It is 2024 and the video is still up. Are you still stalking me Larry? You are trash and always will be. Enjoy your pathetic life in GA. I hope one day our paths cross.

Bobby when I knew him back when he was tandem surfing and still doing tile jobs was a real bad Coke head. Screwed me out a lot of money not paying me for tile I help him install.

Regardless of who plays the music from the film, and it has to be ultimate cool in music of the surfing scene - who from then and now cant think of days and nights when we didnt face moods as expressed in the whole track (hell even Surfs Up captures it). The main thing about the film and its brilliant track by The Sandals captures those early days when we first took to the surf off of our Li Los. We all who surfed then and now owe them heaps. Me. The Big A. 69 now but I figure I still surf Australia's east coast and figure I have one more run to Waimea. Anyone want to join me.?

That was quite a performance by a hell of a group. There's lots of really good surf drummers from the past to present but there is no one who even comes close to Dusty. He's one of the all time great drummers of any genre.
