Wow, the Kampoters are really into it. A lot of personal fireworks at close quarters. A bit dangerous, especially considering all the alcohol consumed on NYE.

You made me think. Cambodians like a drink but no one was visibly drunk at the fireworks show. Yes, safety around fireworks is taken casually here for sure. There was cordite in the air, along with a peaceful celebratory joy. Khmers love any excuse for a party. We celebrate 3 New Years here. Cheers and good observations! Cinza

I remember when I was in Kampot earlier this year Andy, I saw a crazy amount of domestic tourists in their droves seeing this waterspout and that actually surprised me in a good way.

I wish I could. I have not been to the airport in PP for about 6 months (a few hours away). The place I showed offers the best conversion rate USD/Riel in Kampot. In my experience, airport exchanges offer the worst rate-a captive audience

Awesome place. Used to go to Thailand but now I go to Philippines every year. What are the prices like in the girly bars in Kampot?

To be honest, I am not sure about the exact prices here. I was in the Philippines mid 80's, Thailand early 2000's. Never did the bars much, but I can say that except for food, the consensus is that Cambodia is the most affordable place. Come check it out, and make sure to visit the islands off Sihaoukville, south-east Asia's best kept secrets and about to boom with an airport on one being built. Thailand is like McDonald's; Cambodia is a mum and pop rough but friendly shack. Cheers!

I see your mixed emotions regarding the development, however, I see it as a way to preserve the beautiful old buildings. Hopefully the do it right! Sadly many has faced the bulldozer in Saigon. A real shame
