AAA I LOVE BOXERS! I’ve got a boxer myself and he also adores peanut butter, lol! I’ve been wanting to be a vet since I was a kid and now since I’m more mature (and with a stronger stomach hah), I can look into more gross things lol. dr. pol has been a big influence in my life, name any case and I can name it back. ✨

In interviews I straight up say I am looking for a work-life balance and one clinic said ‘it seems you are really concerned about that.’ They didn’t hire me and I was thankful. The clinic I work at now lets me eat lunch!

Thank you for sharing your experience, I did work experience at a boarding kennel - doggy day care, and there really was no thank you or appreciation, it was more of an order then the fact that they appreciated you for what your were doing for their business. They get you to do a lot of cleaning, with no real appreciation of what you're giving to their business. and even if you made an error because you couldnt remember everything because everything seemed rushed. It was like they expected you to remember everything and clean and feed the animals and get them out to play and handle temperaments when dogs got into a fight. Its awful they way some of them run their business. On the outside it seems glamorous as a customer but when you go into is completely different environment. Poor management, poor organisation and youre right lack of support when it comes to your mental health, they couldnt give two f's about. I feel its all about the money not really about the staff care or volunteers care. People who genuinely care about the animals care but in return are treated poorly. That is enough to scare anyone away. There has to be a place where you can work with animals and be treated with the respect that you deserve. I am doing a diploma. My last shift took a toll on me. So I am calling around looking for good places where I can learn and still be treated as an individual and not a slave.Issue is the Government dont really help animal clinics. They leave them to fend for themselves.

I too am a veterinarian and I have quit that job as of the end of last month after over 20 years. I am a boarded criticalist (DACVECC). I am tired of the corporate model that is taking over veterinary medicine and I am no longer able to give my clients and patients the honest care and advice that I believe in due to having to bow down to corporate interests over that of the animals. I have also known 6 veterinarians that have committed suicide for many reasons. I am finding that I am having an identity crisis, in that I'm not sure what I am if I'm not a doctor anymore. Anyway, I just wanted to say, thank you for sharing your journey. Much love and respect. All the best.

I hope sharing my story helped you feel a little less alone. Thank you for sharing your story in this comment. My IG DMs are always open if you want to chat (plus I can always use another criticalist friend 😉). I’ll be here rooting for you in whatever step you choose is next. ❤️

Hi, I'm a veterinary care assistant and have been working as one for the last 4 years but I can describe from my experiences that the veterinary industry is very toxic with high demands and expectations. When I started working as a VCA I was employed as a locum and would work at various clinics in the area although a lot of my training got cut short and interrupted by covid which did cause a lot of problems and having to deal with abusive staff definitely affected me in the first 2 years as I had put on 2 stone in weight due to work stress and stress eating. I have now been working at a stationary clinic nearly for the past year and have settled but still having to deal with clicky work colleagues who like to gossip about other staff members and often you see favoritism in the workplace. I would like to proceed onto studying veterinary nursing but whether the opportunity comes available to me is another story.

You are a very sweet soul and a very good person. I wish you were my veterinarian. I am in Texas and I have four German Shepherd‘s or females to one year olds and I have two that just turned three and I will tell you the veterinarian I had here all she cared about was money, money money And wouldn’t let you go into the examining room with my dog and anytime something went wrong I would complain about it and then they would never admit that what the vet tech did was a mistake and they never admitted at all to anything they did to harm my dogs so I didn’t go there for a while and then it happened again and then I didn’t go there for a while and then we just decided we’re going to break off and I was going to find another vet. One of the girls that worked as a receptionist told me that the reason why they never admit the wrong is because it’s very hard to hire another vet tech anyway thank you so much for your video. You are a true sweetheart of a person. I am definitely going to subscribe to your channel and I wish you the best of luck in everything that you do. I wish you were my veterinarian for my for German shepherds…JAZZ, STARR, FREEDOM & NAVY…. Always remember that insults that insults are complements from the depths of ignorance, and in some cases stupidity❤

I'm unsure about the veterinarian that my pets and I see. We're close in age, and I figured we would bond and be on similar wavelengths even possibly becoming friends, but she is very cold, distant and detached to the point that I feel uncomfortable not knowing how to act. It's confusing to me because I'm not a "problem" client, I always pay at the time of service and never complain. I've tried to get a little personal hoping to get to know her, somewhat and I'm met with resistance. I can't help but wonder if it's me, and she just doesn't care for me as a person 🤷♀️
