I feel you on all your grievances about KZbin. It's harrowing to build a channel these days. Some things I have noticed. I had videos with CTR of over 25%, a retention of 54% and 1 like for every 15 views, and IT STILL FLOPPED. I mean, this was stats for a viral video, and yet KZbin didn't even try to push it. So why did this happen? Who knows. But it happens a lot. Then, I had a video with 7.2% CTR, likes for every 100 view or something, and one of THE worst videos I have ever put together (in my own view), and guess what? It went viral.. hahaha.. isn't that irony for you? What I do know is this. I do not create videos for my audience. I create them because I love doing it. I don't really care anymore of I get 100 views or 1 million views (never gotten that). For me, if ONE person sees my video ALL THE WAY THROUGH, and likes it, job is done. People think too much about monetization and niche and blah blah. Breaking through and going BIG on KZbin is nigh impossible these days. It's like winning the lottery. So put that thought away, and just do what you love doing, create videos of things you love and have passion for. Nothing else really matters. Out of all creators on KZbin, very few actually has ad revenue to live off from. Mostly the bigger creators make money elsewhere, and adsense is just a part of it. Bottom line. Just make what you feel like, and stop worrying so much about views, subscribers (which is usually useless anyway) and watch time, and just enjoy making content. If you can break the monetization barrier, then good on you. But don't FOCUS on it. This is what I did in the end, and I found much more enjoyment in my content creation. I don't create content for my viewers anymore. I create it for myself, because I love what I do. And if I do get viewers, then I am happy for every single view I get, because I actually made someone else use THEIR TIME to watch MY VIDEO. Isn't that amazing? But on a side note. The algo is so biased it's not funny. Seriously unfunny. Flatlining when you have retention, you have good CTR and you have likes.. that shouldn't be possible. But here we are.

yep yt is 90% luck and 10% hard work what i mean by 10% hard work is that you have to make videos in order to even get a chance to get LUCKY so if you post once every 2 weeks you have a less chance of getting lucky than the person who is posting twice a week its a goddam Gacha system

I love KZbin but I started a second channel just going back to non clickbait, no drama with original topics talking about my life playing Call of Duty like it's 2010 😂 I'm tired of the crazy editing too

whether youtube is able to be your job or not do what you love cause at the end of the day like you said its called "YOU"tube so just make something you can come back to and be happy/proud with 👍🏽

Sometimes I feel like KZbin wants you to stick to a very specific niche, or it struggles to figure out where to place your channel. I started creating ambience videos a few months ago, and they did pretty well. Then I switched to more music, and now my videos barely get any reach. But honestly, I don’t care about views - I’d do it anyway because I love world-building. Also, I completely relate to what you said... I’ve put in 100% effort before, and it still flopped. There are so many creators out there now, which is great, but a lot of them post garbage content or just steal content. Big companies push that stuff because more views mean more money. Maybe the best strategy is to improve 1% every day and just stick with it - 90% of creators stop within the first year, so that really puts things into perspective. A great strategy with KZbin Studio is to not stress over it - just open it once a month or every couple of months, review your previous videos, and learn from them. This way I didn't get depression :D Btw great video!

Yea KZbin was a better place a few years ago now it’s just all the same content and all copies same with KZbin shorts it’s just copies of movies or weird edits of stuff anyways great video man I’m gonna try to upload everyday all throughout 2025 if I ever become popular or big my main goal is to have fun upload what I want and then help smaller creators screw getting views and stuff I’d prefer to make stuff I love making and enjoy

Adhering to the algorithm to succeed might not be as bad as you think. The feeling of having your own creation being recognized and adored by many is surreal. There is still leeway for creativity but it truly is a balance. Regardless on whatever path you chose, goodluck on your youtube journey

i feel succeeding on youtube requires almost the perfect balance between being unique enough people have a reason to come back, but also being retention worthy enough so the general public stays. lucky enough i can put my personality in my own videos, and youtube seems to be doing a good job boosting smaller channels into the algorithm than before. but content farms are slowly destroying all personality left

Honestly, great video. I blame Mr. Beast for the "corporatization" of youtube, hes what spawned the flashy thumbnails and overly produced videos in my opinion. I know you've already heard this before, and I know you dont think it would work... but I do recommend finding a good niche, with little competition but high demand... and sticking to it. It will get the watch time up, and as a result get your videos pushed. KZbin's algorithm is going to work to find an audience that likes your video, you just gotta keep digging and find the gold mine. Good luck to you my friend

I've seen alot of soulless content flooding this site which is pretty sad compared to what it was around 2012. But I'd say whatever is fun is way better to make compared to attempting to make something famous. Which is the main reason I stopped making dumb shorts since they became more of a drag then a passion.

perfectly said. KZbin, and basically most of the internet being 100% luck based with the only incentive being profit, sucks, and it's why I simply just don't upload anything anywhere anymore. I wanna do/make STUFF but the only way for it to succeed is by me trend hopping, which I don't wanna do, I want wanna become the channels I hit "Do not recommend channel" on. I wanna help people my age escape harmful internet pipelines with artistic video essays giving answers to their struggles, I wanna make animation content sharing my personal journey through learning how to make my own art MOVE, I wanna make content related to my own art and stories I have sitting in the notes app on my phone, I wanna make goofy gaming videos with friends, I wanna make gaming videos structured like TV show episodes, I wanna make music related content, I wanna make my own clothing from scratch and share it with others, I wanna make STUFF online for EVERY interest I have, but when the platforms I can do that on, put profit over creativity, my, and many others art, cannot exist like how we want it to, in front of people's eyes.
