Well isn't it technically the case that Brennan came in Third Place? Typically the way scoring placement is determined in the event of a tie is that the highest rank is shared among the tied players, then the next rank in the leaderboard is however far down their placement would be if no players had tied. So for example, if a race had 6 entrants and 3 of them tied for 3rd, it would be 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 3rd, 6th. In this we have 1st, 1st, 3rd, meaning there is no middle score, which in a sense still leaves Brennan with a philosophical victory by making a mockery of Sam's attempt at defeating the notion of striving one's hardest. So even in last place, when Brennan loses, he wins.

I hate that I would have approached the dancing part exactly like Brennan. Tactics are more important than fun. In fact I will say that tactics ARE the fun of any game and prioritising fun will ultimately lead to having less fun, thus making the tactician the winner even if the goal of the game wasn't winning but having fun.
